Tie Forces Falcons To Settle For Shared State Title

Wow.. I haven't updated since before the new year.

That itself shows how busy I have been lately.

It was my birthday on Friday. I'm 18. Woohoo.

Onto more important things...

Yesterday was my 4A-II Soccer State Championship game and well...
I dont think I've ever been more devestated in my life.
We didn't lose, nor did we win. How, you ask?
Well, after regulation, it was tied 1-1.
We played two 10 minute halfs.
No goals were scored in those speedy 20 minutes.
Then there were two 5 minute golden goal periods.
After no goals were scored in those periods, they declared us Co-Champs.

I couldn't possibly even attempt to describe how that feels.
We came into this year knowing that this was the year to do it.
We were all ready. Had the talent, experience, heart, everything.
We dominated the entire game and I know we would've scored if we had more time.
So here I sit, in a complacent, bitter, but content mood.
I'll never get the satisfaction of winning the state championship game.
Nor will I ever feel the emotional low one goes through in losing such a game.
For now, I'm just gonna let everything soak in.
I'm gonna miss not having practice everyday after school.
Everytime I look at our soccer field I'll think "damn, if only we scored 1 more goal"
But I'll also remember..

Cactus Shadows Falcons Boys Varsity Soccer. 17-1-2.
Me being 1st team all region defender and Undefeated at home.
Region Champs and finally... STATE CHAMPS.

Thanks to everyone that supported our team through everything.
