Firefox 4 is out folks. It's noticably faster, but if installing over the top of FF3, my recommendation is either don't upgrade or if you do upgrade, consider resetting the preferences as the UI is quite different and really requires setting up from scratch to allow you to make the best use of the new features.
1) Are you looking to back up with me too? If so, how much data, and how much does it change/how often? 2) What sort of bandwidth (up and down) do you have?
If I configure things correctly, I'll just have my pictures and documents that I'd want backing up off site, which rarely change and slowly grows, probably around a few 10s of gigs.
It being late I don't really want to discuss this right now.
I have a virtual host which serves a few science fiction club websites. I'd like to back up their MySQL databases periodically. (very small amount of data I think :-)
As for home stuff I'd need to figure out what is appropriate.
Funnily enough, I'm just rebuilding my laptop as I type. (Not on my laptop, obviously...)
Most of my apps (along with all the latest SP/Hotfixes) are dealt with by integrating them into the Build Disc, which I update just before a major rebuild, but Ninite looks interesting. Can it only update apps installed via itself, or can I add a program to its library manually? (If the former, then it's not much use to me as I prefer to roll the apps into my main unattended install.)
It's the former. The 'app catalog' is curated by the staff and they want to keep it minimalist to both keep the amount of work they have to do down, but also to keep list down for people who need to wade through it.
It's a poor-man's version of what you do, basically. But without any of the faff or effort, and the ability to just run it periodically to update all of the software you downloaded with it automagically.

Give me a shout sometime. I have a decent number of machines in the house including a couple of "always on" ubuntu boxes.

It's the automagic updates I like the idea of. Saves me version checking. :)

Edit: Or apparently not. It needs .net and that's never getting installed on my laptop...!
