Holiday stuff

Dec 13, 2012 18:57

Wow, how did it get to be December 13 already??? Thankfully, I'm already done with two of my three holiday ficathon assignments, so now I only have Yuletide to panic over. :-) (Huh. So Blasters & Wands literally did reveals WHILE I was writing this. Which means I can admit I wrote take it with you (when you go) and received the very sweet Looking Out for You in return. Thank you, DarkSeraphim! :-) )

So, anyway, holidays: sorry for not catching it on the first night, but Happy Chanukah to my f-listers who celebrate! :-) I got a "Happy Chanukah and Merry Crissmass" card from a little girl at work who celebrates both--handmade with pink highlighter and paper but soooooo adorable, even though I don't celebrate Chanukah. ;-)

Second, I know I've been a lot quieter around here lately and I don't know how many of you are even still really reading my journal (or even remember that I exist *g*), but if you are, if we still have fandoms in common, and you feel like it, my
fandom_stocking is here. :-)

And speaking of wishlists, I didn't do the holiday wishlist meme last year because I ran out of time, but I wanted to try to get it done this year. Soo....

Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

- Surf around your circle (or network, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Figured I might as well get the long shot ones out of the way right away. ;-)

1. This Black Widow doll. Yes, I know it's never going to happen, but I can dream.

2. A ticket to Phoenix Comic-Con this year for the Babylon 5 cast reunion, and/or the cost of the hotel.

3. Anything off my Amazon wish list would be fantastic, but especially Person of Interest Season 1 on Blu Ray. I just picked this up for myself when it went on sale for $25 on Amazon.

4. Make a donation to the Barnes & Noble holiday book drive or another literacy-related charity (Kids Need to Read, etc.). Or take some time out of your day to read with a child. :-)

5. There can never be enough Fraser/RayV/RayK OT3 fic (due South) in the world. Or icons. Or art. Or fanvids. ;-)

6. Dustjackets/fanmixes/art/icons for any fic I've written. You can find most of it here. (I'd say I'd take any fanfic based on a piece of my art as well, but most of my art was lost a couple of computer crashes ago and I've never gotten the rest put back up. :-/ )

7. Write me a fusion of any of the following: Avengers->Graceling (Natasha has a killing Grace? Or something more like Katsa's?); Avengers->Black Jewels (Natasha as a Black Widow Queen? Red-Jeweled maybe? *g*); Avengers->Pern (Tony's dragon would totally be Jarvith *g*); Babylon 5->Black Jewels (Delenn as a Gray-Jeweled Queen?); due South->The Sentinel (see my fandom stocking for the one bit of TS fanon I *hate*); due South->Babylon 5 (Minbari!Fraser + Rays as a team of Rangers? *g*); any of my fandoms->Percy Jackson.

8. This Back to the Future ornament. BttF was one of my first fandoms and I still remember it fondly. (Hence why I went to the 25th Anniversary Screening in 2010 and still have the souvenir poster. *g*)

9. I collect dragons (both Eastern and Western but I prefer the European style): stuffed, figurines, pictures, whatever. I particularly love Welsh dragons and the art of Ciruelo.

10. Tell me a story about a favorite holiday tradition of yours. It can be any winter holiday (Christmas, Chanukah, Yule, etc.), as long as the tradition is something personal to you and/or your family. (For example: in my family, a traditional Christmas breakfast is waffles and red grapefruit. :-) )

You can PM me for my address if you want to send me something (check with me before you send anything to the address on my Amazon wishlist--this has gone awry in the past :-o ). If you want to be sneakier, watch this space: I have someone on my f-list I can designate as address-giver but I want to make sure she's OK with it first. ;-)

Thanks in advance to anyone who decides to grant any of these wishes!
