To me literature is something that opens your mind to new ideas and creates opportunities to strengthen your knowledge. Literature isn’t just a book but it can be anything that tells a story and has people interested in it. Movies are literature for the simple reason that every movie has a story behind it and some sort of lesson or moral. Poetry is literature because of all the descriptive words and meanings it has. I consider literature any written work that is shown or that means something. Harry Potter would be a great example of literature because of all the books and the movies. It’s mostly child literature but it is literature. They tell stories with great meaning and even though its fantasy it’s still a novel and movie that has many literary elements. Harry Potter would be considered a literary fiction because it’s not real and just fantasy. There are many different types of literature which making reading and watching movies so interesting to compare to each other. We talked about a lot of things in class and literature ranges from a bunch of different things. Rap is literature because its poetry and rhyming, well at least some of it is. Lots of songs have deeper meanings then what we take for face value and there is a lot of literary elements in the songs. So I believe that books aren’t the only things that can be classified as literature because other things also have literary elements. I used Harry Potter as an example because it has books and a movie which means you can compare the two and also its literary elements.
