What comes of my video game adventures

I was looking through old games I should replay recently and Tales of Vesperia caught my eye. Never hard for me to look past a Tales game, as I am a huge lover of the Tales series. They always have a great plot line, memorable characters, and a common theme of togetherness through the hard times that really speaks to me. Tales of Symphonia is my all-time favorite Tales game, but Vesperia is a close second.

One reason for Vesperia's greatness comes (in my opinion) from the relationship between Yuri Lowell and his best friend Flynn Scifo. Childhood friends that had the common dream of helping the weak by becoming Royal Knights to the Empire. Only Yuri dislikes the way the empire runs things, using corrupt laws and refusing to punish the unjust. He quits in pursuit of his own methods to correct the empire. However Flynn sticks with it, believing he can fix the system from within. Anyway, Yuri's a bit of a troublemaker because of his recklessness. He doesn't think twice about helping someone in need, even if it gets him thrown in jail...a lot. As a man that swore to uphold the law, Flynn doesn't approve of Yuri's antics at all. The two fight over their methods of justice constantly. At one point, Flynn says Yuri's acts are the same as those of a common criminal, and tells him if it comes down to it, he will fight him. Despite everything they go through, seeing the world from different perspectives, they are the best of friends.

Ah the power of friendship!!

I think Flynn/Yuri is practically canon from the game and the movie about them. YES THERE IS A MOVIE FOR TALES OF VESPERIA GO WATCH NOW

So, the whole point of this. Flynn is a goodie two shoes that works ridiculously hard to reach his goals. Wants to create a safe world full of equality and justice. Yuri's a troublemaker that does things at his own pace but never loses sight of what is important to him. He makes himself the bad guy just to relieve someone else of a burden.

It reminds me ridiculously so of Platinum. Therefore I present Yagyuu and Niou, Vesperia style!!!

Oh Yagyuu you look so unf.....And Niou!! Omg listening to Yuri talk reminded me so much of you. Even the smirk is similar. XD

The words at the bottom are actually part of the OP song for Tales of Vesperia. It's called 'Ring a Bell' by Bonnie Pink and it's a beautiful song. There's a part in the game where Flynn and Yuri go at it, as Flynn's upset Yuri's shouldering the burden of saving the world alone. Don't remember the exact words but Yuri says something along the lines of 'The only reason I can do whatever I want is because I know you're here worrying about me. Watching my back. Each of us has a part the other can't reach.'

My mind instantly goes EEEEEEE...and after that it goes to Platinum.

I guess I didn't have to ramble about all that and just say I WANTED TO DRAW YAGYUU AS FLYNN AND NIOU AS YURI!!

My bad. XD
Not really sorry >>
