Patrick Stewart fans listen up!!!

green_maia, greylin , dolamrothdame , I'm looking at you...

The BBC Radio 4 Wednesday arts discussion programme Midweek has just featured Patrick Stewart! (because the version of his Macbeth filmed by Illuminations, who also filmed the DT/PS RSC Hamlet, is airing on BBC4 this weekend)

- he talked to the interviewer about acting angry villains (with a very moving segment talking about how for years he only "faked" acting anger on stage, because given his childhood experiences, he was very afraid of digging into his own inner feelings of rage...) and then was very funny about being cast as Jean-Luc Picard and about the similarities between Trek and Shakespeare. ("The bridge of the Enterprise is a very theatrical space!")

Anyway, I think BBC Radio (as opposed to tv) iPlayer links usually do work outside the UK - so see if you can grab the programme from here; if that link doesn't work for you tell me and I'll see if I can download it for you (iPlayer usually makes stuff available for a week after broadcast).  The main Patrick Stewart segment is about 45 minutes in; I only turned on just before that so there may have been other conversations with him, and he will have been involved in discussion with the other 2 guests; I haven't caught up with the rest yet!
