Proof that I really needed coffee this morning (though to be fair I was also dealing with two small people's incessant demands for breakfast and a tea-deprived husband at the time): it totally failed to occur to me that the Radio 4 Today programme story about a locket being found by an archaeological dig at Shakespeare's birthplace, which allegedly contained a lock of Mary Queen of Scots's hair and an inscription in French which supposedly suggested that WS was French by descent from his mother, was anything to do with today's date...
