Yes, yes, I know, at this rate I have no hope whatever of re-watching all of Ten between now and the regeneration.

I've a very special place in my heart for that two-parter. First, it was a genuinely surprising and thrilling episode with a real alien setting. Second, it had a well-realised supporting cast of characters (compare with Silence in the Library, Moffatt please note) and some really interesting aliens in the Ood. Finally, it took the Doctor/Rose relationship into territory that I'd never have believed they'd dare to explore. Loving Rose awakened his passion and idealism, and I miss that now I see him going through on autopilot as he did in POTD.

I can see why you love it so much - I hadn't thought about its having been filmed before Doomsday (arrgh, choking up just thinking about DD)

The very end of our recording was missing (TV schedules were probably overrunning that day or something) - at the time of first viewing it didn't particularly bother me, because we'd got as far as the point when the Doctor has announced he's towing them home, and has got Ida, and he's sorry but he couldn't save the Ood; but having seen the screencap at the top of your 2006 post, I'm now desperate to see the last few minutes that I was missing! (won't have to wait long, Amazon says my little splurge has shipped...)
