Big bell
Monday's #happything was ringing the tenor (the biggest bell) at bellringing practice. Our ringing master - a lad a few years younger than me - is very firm about getting the female members of the band to do everything the men do, including ringing the bigger bells. I was rubbish at it when I started, as it's a very different technique from ringing the smaller bells and you have to think much further ahead about what you are going to do next. My feet leave the ground quite frequently, as I have to use my whole body weight to get the bell in the right place - but it's a lot of fun and feels fantastic when I get it right!
