Laughing all the way
Today's #happything is definitely the Bill Bailey gig that we managed not to miss by the skin of our teeth. I haven't laughed so much and so hard for ages :-)
(I can't really retell too many of the jokes effectively, because as those of you who have ever seen BB on TV or live will know, so much of the funny is in his very dry and deadpan delivery. But he had a very good joke about how being vaguely left-wing, and supporting the current British Labour Party [under Jeremy Corbyn] is a bit like a band you've been into for decades, who suddenly release a really weird experimental album, and you have no idea what to make of it but feel this long-term sense of loyalty that means you should defend it to everyone...)
And then there was a great riff about how men dread their girlfriends/partners/wives turning to them when they're gazing soulfully off into the distance and asking "What are you thinking?" "Women assume we're thinking deep philosophical thoughts about the nature of the universe. What they don't realise is, when men look like that, we have gone into powersave mode."
Oh, and the Kurt Weil/Cabaret-style version of Happy Birthday was a musical classic :-)
