I just wanted to share with everyone two blog posts, from the wonderful blogger on literature and authors for all ages Maria Popova's Brain Pickings, on illustrators of The Hobbit (Tove Jansson illustrated a Swedish edition! If I ever came across a copy I would have to present it to altariel instantly...) and on Tolkien's own work as an artist/illustrator(

Oh my - I do love the Tove Jansson ones, but I also think the Ryûichi Terashima ones are wonderful. I would love a book of the assorted artwork.
