Every time I've been to the Globe I've come away having had some sort of lightbulb moment about how totally different the experience of "seeing a Shakespeare play" might have been in WS's time. First time I went was as a groundling to Julius Caesar, and I remember being struck by a) how many laughs there were in it (since it's always watched with reverent solemnity these days) and b) how utterly different the role of the "mob" feels when the audience is the mob
