Problem 1:
So I have been prentending that I am going to finish off this trench so I can lay wires to juice up my new hot tub. I guess I can really say pretending.. since I am half way done. The trench only needs to fit a pipe and be 6 inches deep. Problem is this, in the desert we have something called Caliche. Caliche is a layer of soil in which the soil particles have been cemented together by lime. Layers vary in thickness from a few inches to several feet. So what that means is this, every time I swing my pick axe, sparks fly in all directions. I could get a machine to help dig this seemingly small trench but where the caliche is not, my irragation system is. The trench I am digging is about 150 - 200 feet long. I did about 90+ feet of it so far.
Problem 2:
I have been pricing and delaying over the need for putting in a slab of concrete that is 10x10 and 6 inches deep to use as a foundation for the tub. I just learned yesterday that Baja makes thier tubs in a way that doesn't require a foundations. Only level ground. OK that makes it easier but changes my approach. Problems with solutions are great.
So all in all I should have this up in a couple of more weeks I am hoping. In a nice location that allows both privacy and a mountain view of the Catalina's and Mt. Lemon.
