Chapter 5 - Always Be By Your Side
It has been three months since Donghae entered SJ High School. Everything go well and he was more comfortable with his new school and friends.
Eunhyuk’s P.O.V
Today is a boring day. I did not have anything to do. KyuWook and YeMin couple went out on early morning. I could not find Donghae too. Where is he? I have searched everywhere. His room, toilet, library, classroom, even a store but I still could not find him. Did he go out to the town? Or maybe he was kidnapped by alien? Nonsense! I am started to think like him.
When I walked at the school corridor, I noticed Donghae sat under the tree and he was hugging his own leg. His body was shaking. Is he crying? I ran as fast as I can. I did not know. My hearts felt so hurt seeing him like that. I sat beside him and he did not notice me. I putted my hand on his shoulder. He was so shocked to see me and quickly wiped his tears.
“Are you ok?” I asked concernly. “Although we only know each other for three months, if you’ve any problem, you can tell me. We’re best friend right?”
“I’m ok” replied Donghae. I could see his weak smiled.
“Don’t lie to me. I saw you’re crying just now”.
He took a deep breath and said, “I miss him”.
“Him?”
“Hyukjae”
“Hyukjae? Where did I hear his name before?” I asked. I am sure I have heard his name.
“Remember our first met?”
I nodded. Of course I remember. That day, you and I accidently kissed each other. Thinks about that almost made me blushed.
“I called you Hyukjae right?”
“Now I remember. Who’s he?”
“...” He lowered down his head, stared at the ground. Maybe I asked a wrong question.
“It’s ok if you don’t want to tell me”
He shook his head. “Hyukjae is an important person to me”.
Important person? Why did I felt really hurt to hear that word? Did I fell in love with him? “Where’s he now?”
“He’s died. 6 months ago”.
“I’m sorry”.
“It’s ok”. He looked really hurt. I wanted hugged him, comforted him. But is it ok?
“Why did he die?”
“Cancer. Lung cancer” Donghae looked at me with his teary eyed. “Eunhyuk ah, can I‘ve a favour?”
I nodded. I will do anything for you. I hate saw you like this.
“May I borrow your shoulder?”
I smiled and pulled him closer.
“You know, Hyukjae really look like you. Not only his face but his attitude also like you” he said between bobbing.
“That’s why you call me Hyukjae?” Now I knew the reasoned.
He buried his face on my shoulder and cried really hard. I patted his back lightly. His body was shaking and I knew my shirt will be so wet because of his tears. But I did not care. I wanted to comfort him. It was really hurt to a happy person like him suffered like this. I wanted to protect him my heart. Can I love him? Did his heart have a space for me?
