...Or at least her perfume was. I can smell her perfume in my bathroom and I can't figure out where it is coming from. It was called Emerald something. That is the only perfume I think she ever wore. I miss her.
That is IT!!! Thank you...thank you...thank you!!!
I could not remember the name of it!
I know she visits me often. She and I were very close. She died just before I graduated college (I was 27 when I finally got it done) and just before I moved to Texas. It was really hard leaving my mom (my folks lived across the street and two houses over from me) and taking the girls away from her just after her mom had died. She always had guilt about us being separated from the grandparents because of the military. And yet...I was really close to her folks.
My grandparents had just enough to get by and my grandmother left me this necklace and earrings set that were roses. My entire room was roses when I was in high school. Anyway, I wore that every day, never took it off. Then once I had to have a biopsy done and they made me take it off before the surgery. I was terrified to remove it because that was the thing that kept me connected to her. After a moment of complete panic, I felt calm. I knew it was ok and I didn't have to wear the necklace to be connected to her. Shortly after that the clasp started to open a lot and I was afraid of loosing it so I put it away. I guess maybe that was the point that I accepted her death.
Wow. Sorry about that...it all just kind of threw up from my fingers onto the key board.
Thank you again for helping me remember the name of the perfume.
I love all roses. Peach colored maybe, I guess if I had to pick one. I just love the smell and I love that all the colors have different smells. I stayed at this hotel in San Diego a few years ago and the grounds were covered with rose bushes of all different colors and scents. I was in heaven!
I love them too, and would like to plant some. My middle name is actually Rose! Named after my Grandma Rose Oppenheimer who died in the Holocaust.
I am favoring apricot/peachy colored roses myself these days. I also love yellow roses.
Have you ever seen the Vigarosa roses? There is one called Salmon Vigarosa, and one called Apricot Vigarosa. Their colorations are gorgeous! The Peace Rose also.
