“Jaejoong! Wait!” Jongyun shouted as he watched the man he loved walk away from him. He didn’t know why he had shouted that when really he didn’t have anything to say. The truth was out and there was no way to turn things back. All he knew was that if he let Jaejoong walk away today, he would end up walking out of his life forever.
But Jaejoong did not turn around. He continued walking with tears streaking down his face. Anger, confusion and betrayal. There were so many emotions and questions that burned at his heart but right now, Jongyun was the last person Jaejoong wanted to see. He did not want to think about what was unveiled to him. For once, he just wanted to feel numb.
“Jaejoong, please!” Jongyun pleaded as he took giant steps to catch up to his fiancé. When Jaejoong refused to listen, Jongyun reached out for Jaejoong’s arm and held it firmly to prevent him from walking further. Jaejoong turned around with an angry glare and immediately tried to shake Jongyun’s hand away from him. But Jongyun didn’t budge. He couldn’t just let go of Jaejoong like that.
“Leave me!” Jaejoong yelled as he wretched his arm out of Jongyun’s grip. He didn’t to hear what Jongyun had to say. He just wanted to forget everything for a moment.
Jongyun eventually let go of his arm but didn’t pursue him for the second time because he knew Jaejoong had already built a wall around himself and Jongyun would have to do a lot more to pry through it. He watched as Jaejoong strode away knowing that everything had fallen to pieces.

Yunho was eating right out from the tub of ice cream while enjoying his favourite Korean film. It had been a while since he had gotten to do that. Now that he was technically unemployed, he had all the time to do whatever he wanted. It felt great to get away from the pressure, the constant lack of rest and need to please people. He could finally let go. He was onto his 5th bite when the doorbell rang.
Yunho huffed. And here he was thinking he could spend some alone time. He was completely ready to turn away anybody on his doorstep but as soon as he opened the door to a red-eyed, sniffing Jaejoong, all thoughts of himself fled his mind.
There was no hello, no explanation as Jaejoong flung himself onto Yunho as his dam broke. Jaejoong cried hard into his shoulder. A confused Yunho brought his hand up to stroke the crying man’s back as he tried to maneuver them into the apartment.
That night the ice cream and movie lay forgotten as Yunho spent the night comforting a disarrayed Jaejoong.
--
The next few days were spent at Yunho’s house as Jaejoong did not want to go back to an apartment that reminded him of Jongyun.
Jaejoong had been feeding Jaeyun when his phone rang. This was probably the 76th missed call Jongyun was leaving. Jongyun had been trying to contact Jaejoong ever since that fateful night but Jaejoong wasn’t ready to see him just yet.
“Maybe you should pick up the phone.” Yunho suggested as he walked into the room. Jaejoong had told Yunho what had happened that night and Yunho had been furious. How dare that man cheat on a person like Jaejoong? Here he was trying to chase after Jaejoong’s affection when this man was already at the receiving end of the said affections, to throw all that away was the most foolish thing Yunho had heard. So when Jongyun had started calling Jaejoong to talk to him, Yunho had strictly advised against forgiving Jongyun. Thankfully Jaejoong had seen things his way and hadn’t bothered to respond to the man. But now, his calls were getting annoying to the state of being almost pitiful that Yunho had thought that Jaejoong should possibly let the man say something at the least.
Jaejoong eyed Yunho. Yunho had been completely against Jaejoong ever speaking to that man again but now he was suggesting Jaejoong talk to him?
“I want to hear what he has to say.” Yunho clarified as he took a seat next to Jaejoong. Yunho stroked the top of Jaeyun head as the baby peacefully drank his milk, oblivious to the problems his parents were going through. Jaejoong looked at Yunho once more before turning to pick up Jongyun’s call.
“Hello?” Jaejoong said emotionlessly into the phone.
“Jae! Thank God you picked up!” Jaejoong heard Jongyun’s relief filled voice. “I’ve been so worried for the past few days. Not being able to hear your voice is driving me crazy!”
“Can we please meet? I really want to see you and talk to you!” He pleaded. Jaejoong sighed and looked over to Yunho who had been listening into their conversation. Yunho hesitated for a while before he slowly nodded to Jaejoong indicating that perhaps Jaejoong should give him a chance to say something.
“Okay. Where do you want to meet?” Jaejoong answered finally.
“I could come over to your apartment or anywhere you prefer.” Jongyun would agree to anything at this point of time.
Jaejoong panicked a little. He wasn’t at his apartment as he had spent most of his days at Yunho’s place instead. “I’ll meet you at your place instead, alright?”
With that, two decided to meet up to clear up everything and to confirm which direction their relationship was headed.
--
“Jaejoong-ah…” Jongyun whispered as he held the door open for Jaejoong to walk into his apartment. After having not seen him for the past week, seeing the beautiful man again felt like a dream. He had expected a devastated Jaejoong with a cloud of gloom hanging over his head to walk through the door but instead Jaejoong spotted an icy cold exterior. For once, Jongyun felt afraid to the gorgeous man standing in front of him. He had never seen Jaejoong like this before. Around him, Jaejoong wore his heart out on a sleeve but today Jongyun had to look deep into Jaejoong to see that he was indeed fuming beneath that stoic exterior.
The two of them silently settled onto Jongyun’s dining table with the air thick with tension. Jongyun held up the teapot to pour some tea for the two of them in order to ease the tense environment but Jaejoong stopped him before he could do so.
“What do you have to say, Jongyun?” Jaejoong asked icily.
Jongyun looked up at Jaejoong meeting his cold eyes. “I’m sorry…” he finally whispered.
Jaejoong raised an eyebrow at him. Did Jongyun think he would be able to redeem himself from all he did through a mere apology?
“I owe you an explanation.” Jongyun realized as soon as he saw Jaejoong’s expression.
“I was scared, Jaejoong.”
“Scared?” Jaejoong repeated unbelievingly. Jongyun cheated because he was scared? Of what?
“I was scared of everything that was going on between us. Our relationship, our engagement and the baby. I was starting to realize that I was heading in a direction that wasn’t myself. ” Jongyun explained.
“But you’re the one who proposed! And you’re the one who convinced me to keep Jaeyun! Why were you scared?” Jaejoong questioned, feeling confused and betrayed.
“I was wrong alright!” Jongyun yelled. “I thought if I hadn’t proposed and allowed you to keep the baby, I would have lost you. I didn’t know that making those decisions would lead me to loose myself. I’m not the type to be tied down by such things, Jaejoong. I was mistaken!”
“So you didn’t do those things willingly?” Jaejoong gasped. Did this mean he had been living a lie for the past few months? Jongyun hadn’t wanted Jaeyun, Jongyun hadn’t even wanted the marriage. He was just doing that so that he wouldn’t lose Jaejoong to someone else.
“I loved you, Jae, I did. But not those things. Not the baby, not the engagement.” Jongyun finally confessed. Now everything fell into place for Jaejoong. Why Jongyun didn’t bother getting involved in the marriage plans and why Jongyun didn’t bother spending a moment with Jaeyun. He didn’t want either of that.
Jaejoong eyes watered with disbelieve and betrayal. The man he was going to marrying in a few months, the father of his child hadn’t wanted any of this. Jaejoong stood up shakily from his seat as he continued looking at Jongyun in complete shock. He tugged on the ring on his finger and threw it at Jongyun.
“I don’t even have to say it.” Jaejoong started. “It is long over between us, Jongyun.”
--
That day Yunho opened his door to a sobbing Jaejoong once again. Yunho took Jaejoong into his arms, squeezing his ex-boyfriend tight as he tried to comfort him.
Despite the fact Yunho understood the pain Jaejoong was going through, inwardly a burst of glee spread through him as he realized Jaejoong was no longer bound to another man.
--
Finally the day came, Yunho and Jaejoong’s movie was finally premiering under the title “Change.” Both Yunho and Jaejoong had been nervous yet excited at the same time. Nervous because they didn’t know how the reception towards their movie would be but also excited because it was going be one of their biggest big screen appearance. Yunho had invited Changmin along to the premier, proud to showcase his work to his beloved dongsaeng. Similarly, Jaejoong had invited Junsu and Yoochun along, wanting his best friends to finally view the master piece of his hard work.
Although Jaejoong felt happy being surrounded by the 4 people he loved the most in the world, his thoughts still wander to his baby boy, hoping that his mother and sisters were handling him well. Not that he doubted their skills, after all, there was no one better than his adoptive family when it came to taking care of children. His main concern was Jaeyun creating a fuss without Jaejoong being there to take care of him. In fact, he himself felt uneasily without the constant weight of Jaeyun in his arms. Ever since the little boy had been released from the hospital, Jaejoong had barely spent any moments away from him.
Yunho watched as Jaejoong nervously fidgeted with his hands. He knew Jaejoong was worrying about Jaeyun so he went over and took Jaejoong’s hand into his, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
“Everything’s going to be alright.” Yunho said even before Jaejoong could voice his concerns. Jaejoong looked at the handsome man holding his hand. Somehow Yunho had managed to look gorgeous day by day and even more so in the crisp suit he was sporting today. Jaejoong’s heart thumped loudly. Damn, it was those weird feelings in his chest again. Knowing that he once dated this very man and that this very gorgeous man still held feelings for him, Jaejoong could no longer deny the attraction. Especially ever since the media had caught onto their little trip together to the hospital when Jaeyun was sick, making Jaejoong realize how much Yunho was willing to do for him and Jaeyun. Yunho had been there for him from the start, from helping him out on the film set to taking care of Jaeyun. Something that Jongyun never did. Speaking of Jongyun, the media had been quick to catch onto the fact that Jaejoong no longer wore his engagement rings and rumor about them having trouble in paradise had begun circulating. It hurt to think about Jongyun and what they could have had together but one look at Yunho shoved those thoughts away.
Jaejoong smiled widely at the cameras while he stood beside Yunho on the red carpet as the two of them were flanked by their proud dongsaengs who were smiling enthusiastically at the cameras as well. Jaejoong’s heart felt like bursting through his chest. 5 years they had waited for this moment. To stand together as 5 once again. It felt right. It felt perfect.
The movie turned out to be great despite the reservations everyone had. The audience enjoyed the drama and romance. How could they not when 3 immensely beautiful men were playing the lead roles. Jaejoong and Yunho could finally allowed satisfaction to show upon their faces.
After the premier, a huge afterparty was held at one of Seoul’s grandest hotels but the unit of 5 turned down the offer, wanting to celebrate amongst each other privately. So they left the venue, picked up Jaeyun from his grandmother’s house and found themselves tumbling into Yunho’s apartment, giddy with happiness.
Just as they stepped through the doors, the 5 gathered into a long awaited hug. They were finally together again.
--
The 5 lounged around Yunho’s apartment, catching up with each other lives refusing to sleep since they had so much to talk about.
“Jae-hyung, why wasn’t Jongyun-shi there for the premier? Didn’t you invite him?” Junsu asked innocently. He had expected to meet Jaejoong’s fiancé there because he was sure that Jaejoong would want his partner to see the final product of the project he had worked on for such a long time.
The temperature levels dropped in the apartment as soon as that name came out from Junsu’s mouth. Jaejoong, who was laughing at something Changmin had said, frowned.
“We broke up.” Jaejoong stated simply. He was met 3 shocked expressions as he yet to tell any his dongsaengs the news. Jaejoong sighed, knowing that the 3 would be expecting the full story with every excruciating detail since Jaejoong had just dropped a bomb on them. So Jaejoong begin an hour long story which eventually led to the 3 dongsaeng’s finally letting out about they actually had felt towards Jongyun and his relationship with Jaejoong.
“I say good riddance.” Yoochun said as he patted Jaejoong on the back who had started tearing midway through the recount of what had happened the night Jongyun took him out and he had met Juri.
“Yeah, hyung, I never got a good vibe from him anyway.” Junsu consoled as he sat next to Jaejoong.
Jaejoong smiled at his two friends who by now knew exactly how to cheer their depressed hyung up. He then turned his attention towards his sleeping son who had exhausted himself with the overwhelming attention had he received from the 4 members. Jaeyun had become his source of never ending comfort. One look at his son and everything felt alright again.
Changmin watched as his two ex-bandmates comforted the oldest one in the room. He then turned to look at Yunho who sat by Jaejoong and Jaeyun. No matter what Jaejoong and Jaeyun were doing, Yunho would be near them like a shadow keeping a watch over the two like a guardian angel. His hyung truly loved Jaejoong and his son.
Changmin nudged Yunho, forcing him to finally divert his attention from Jaejoong to him. “Now is your chance, hyung.” Changmin whispered. Jaejoong was going through a tough time recovering from a broken family, there would never be a better opportunity than this to finally make Jaejoong his.
Yunho shot him a confused look. ‘A chance for what?’ he wondered.
“Ask him.” Changmin said, gesturing towards Jaejoong with his eyes. Yunho finally got the hint.
“Jaejoong-ah.” Yunho said as he took Jaejoong’s hand into his. “I know this may or may not be the right time to ask this but I need to do this.”
Jaejoong looked curiously at Yunho. What was the man talking about?
“Will you be my boyfriend?” Yunho asked. “Again?”
