This was so totally worth the $45, wow. Like I said on Twitter, if every PPV was this good, I'd be in severe financial trouble, lol. Just to warn y'all, I'm a bit out of practice with recaps because I haven't had to do one since Survivor Series '09 or so. I hope it's decent =X
Anyway, my recap. The PPV started off with the Smackdown Money in the Bank match. Superstars entered in this order: Sin Cara (Are they going to do the whole match with his special lights? lol), Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel (his new music is gonna take some getting used to), Sheamus, Cody Rhodes, Heath Slater (Just for Jasmine: HIS HAIR LOOKS SO GOOOOOOOD! :P), Daniel Bryan and Kane. We're introduced to the Spanish announce team... I wonder how long the table will last tonight?
Wade, Kane and Sheamus take out the smaller guys quickly, Wade and Sheamus team against Kane but Kane takes them out. When he goes for a ladder, Kofi, Heath and Justin takes him out. Cody goes for the briefcase but Sheamus stops him and Kane throws them out of the ring. Wade goes after him but gets sent into a ladder. Kane then sends a ladder over the top rope into Cody and Sheamus. After they're left standing in the ring, Daniel takes out Wade, Justin leaps onto Kane, Heath splashes onto Cody and Sin Cara goes for Sheamus. (Random observation: This PPV feed makes the Superstars feed look really sad. Totally worth the money, yep)
Sin Cara sets a ladder against the apron just to get kicked by Wade, who then bridges the ladder from the apron to the Spanish announce table. Sin Cara sends Wade into the turnbuckle arm first just to get brogue kicked by Sheamus and powerbombed into the still bridged ladder. Sheamus then attacks Wade and Heath with another ladder before dragging it into the ring, stopped by Kane. Cody and Daniel both bring in ladders and go after Kane before exchanging blows while Sin Cara is stretchered out. Kane sets a ladder up after throwing the other two out. Wade, Justin and Heath stop him and Cody, then Daniel. (I do enjoy seeing my Corre boys working together, lol)
They talk once they're alone in the ring and Wade starts to climb but Heath and Justin stop him, knocking him off of the ladder before racing for the top themselves. Cody, however, tips the ladder and climbs himself but Wade catches him just to get Crossrhodes. Cody climbs again just for Sheamus to catch him. Daniel slows his climb but gets clotheslined off of Sheamus' shoulders by a re-entering Kane. After laying Kane out, Sheamus bridges another ladder between the standing ladder and the second rope, just for Kane to rebound and chokeslam Wade and Justin. Daniel stops his climb and gets caught in a chokehold but counters it, sending Kane out of the ring. Heath begins to climb but Daniel stops him and gets neckbreakered off the top.
Heath then starts to climb again, until Wade stops him. Sheamus returns and Wade gets a third ladder, him and Sheamus sending it into Heath while he's stuck on the top rope, sending him off and into Kane on the floor. Sheamus then brogue kicks Wade, Daniel and bridges another ladder in the corner, sending Justin into it before climbing just to be stopped by Kane, who pulls him down and chokeslams him into the bridged ladder below. Cody, Wade and Daniel stop Kane's climb just for Justin to hit a 450 splash off of the bridging ladder in the corner. Wade hits Wasteland on Cody and Daniel after sending Justin out onto Heath. Cody then stopped Wade's climb and attempted to stop Daniel's but Wade climbed too, Cody goes flying and Wade tries to Wasteland Daniel onto the bridging ladder but Daniel counters, kicks Wade off and climbs, grabbing the briefcase and winning.
Footage taken from earlier is aired, showing Vince arriving with John Laurinaitis and a WWE lawyer in a last ditch attempt to re-sign CM Punk.
Second match was Brie Bella vs Kelly Kelly for the Diva's title. Eve accompanied K2 to the ring. Not much of importance happened, so I didn't really recap because I couldn't focus, haha. No one minds, right?
King: Bella twins said they want to take Kelly Kelly camping, because they could rub her legs together to start a fire.
K2 retains. The twins then argue, Nikki disbelieving that Brie couldn't beat her.
Mark Henry vs Big Show. Big Show dominates from the start until they fight to the outside and Mark Henry hits him in the knees with steel steps. Upon re-entering, Mark focuses on his leg, slamming it into the ring and locking him into a knee hold until he makes it to the bottom rope . Show attempts a rebound and makes it to his feet just to get a clothesline in the corner. Show fights out, climbs to the top and shoulderchecks Henry before going for a chokeslam, gets countered and slammed onto the mat. It only gets a two count, but Mark splashes him twice and pins him. He's not done, however, as he goes for a steel chair that he wraps around Show's bad leg. He goes to the second rope and splashes onto the chair. The trainer is a busy man tonight.
We see Vince talking to John Laurinaitis when Josh interrupts to ask if he's re-signed CM Punk. Vince admits no, that Punk is the biggest ingrate he's ever dealt with; it's not Vince's fault since Punk refused his most lucrative contract offer. Josh mentions Cena and Vince blames all of this on him, adding that if Punk leaves WWE champ tonight, may God have mercy on Cena's soul.
Now, Raw's Money in the Bank! Order of entry: Alberto Del Rio, Kofi Kingston, Jack Swagger, Evan Bourne, R Truth, Alex Riley, Miz and Rey Mysterio. Everyone grabs a ladder on their way into the ring; none are full sized, oddly enough. Truth grabs the step ladder on his way in, lol. They all gang up and take ADR out of the ring, some of them going a step further and throwing their ladders out onto him where he's laying outside. The remaining ladders are used in a struggle until Miz and Truth are the only two left in the ring; Swagger returns and knocks them out of the ring before trying to set up a ladder. Evan and Kofi jump in and attempt to climb it, kicking Swagger out of the way before Truth, A-Ri and Rey get involved. A-Ri tries to climb but Miz stops him, just to get thrown out of the ring. A-Ri then dives out of the ring and takes out Miz and Swagger before Truth does the same thing, followed by Rey and Evan doing the same on opposing turnbuckles. Evan's not done, however, climbing on a ladder and performing airborne on all the men below. He then re-enters the ring and climbs but Miz stops him, just for ADR to send the ladder. Miz hits knee first on the edge of the ladder, immediately showing signs of distress and rolling out of the ring. After the trainer looks at his knee, he's helped out of the ringside area.
Truth and ADR climb but are stopped by Rey and Evan. The four continue to struggle just for the two smaller men to take them out with hurricaranas. Swagger and Kofi fight until A-Ri start to climb, Swagger stopping him before Truth pushes the ladder over. Rey intercepts him after he bridges the ladder on the second rope. After Rey sends Truth into the ladder and takes ADR out, Kofi makes an attempt until Rey stops him. Swagger takes care of Rey before Truth re-enters and knocks Swagger away just to receive a 619. Rey then climbs, just to struggle with A-Ri. Swagger brings in a ladder but ADR catches him, before Kofi and a few others to bring in more ladders in which they all climb. The seven attempt to grab the swinging briefcase until ADR, Swagger and Evan goes flying, then A-Ri. Truth goes next, followed by Rey. Swagger stops Kofi before he can grab the briefcase. Both go flying when the ladder tips, and at that moment Miz limps his way back to the ring, pulling the ladder to position before painstakingly climbing it. He almost has the briefcase when Rey stops him, slamming his knee into the ladder and slamming him to the mat below. Rey almost has the briefcase when ADR reappears and they fight for awhile before ADR throws him onto the neighboring ladder, unmasking him in the process. He then grabs the briefcase. They scared me a bit there, lol.
Josh congratulates ADR, who says he doesn't know why he was in the match, that he was #1 contender two weeks ago, and will prove his greatness tonight. His destiny is to be WWE champion.
Christian vs Orton for the World Heavyweight title. If Orton gets DQ'd or there's shoddy officiating by the referee, Orton will forfeit the title to Christian. Meh this feud makes me sleepy. lol. Bell rings and Christian leaves the ring immediately, going for a steel chair that he brings back into the ring and taunts Orton with. Orton throws it out of the ring before attacking Christian. Christian lands a couple punches before Orton hits a clothesline, Christian throws him from the ring but misses a splash when Orton moves. He then throws Christian into the steel steps but Christian regains momentum upon returning to the ring, managing a two count. They exchange a couple blows before Christian surfboards, punches him and goes for another cover, another two count. Christian hits a spinebuster and another two. Unprettier is reversed and Orton sends both over the top rope. Randy gets to the ring first, Christian climbs to the top but Orton moves and he misses. Likewise, Orton fails at the RKO and another two count follows for Orton, who then hits a dropkick midair. Another two count happens and Christian catches Orton on the top rope before climbing the rope. Orton follows but Christian pushes him off and headbutts him. Another two count, with clotheslines and RKOs reversed into an Unprettier but Orton kicks out JUST before the three.
Christian goes for a spear but Orton leaps over it and reverses, getting a two count of his own after a neckbreaker into a sort of RKO. He goes for a punt but Christian ducks away just for Orton to continue the assault, Christian cringing away just before the RKO happens again. Christian then spits in his face and Orton loses it, risking disqualification as he lays into Christian ruthlessly. The referee pulls him off finally but Orton, still incensed, low blows Christian and gets DQ'd. Orton loses it further and attacks Christian on the outside, slamming a monitor into his face and RKOing him into the Spanish table. He almost leaves but turns back around, hitting a second RKO off of the table.
Now... the main event, CM Punk vs John Cena. If CM Punk wins the WWE title, John Cena is fired! Punk comes out to deafening cheers and chants, which quickly change to jeers and boos at Cena's entrance. They circle each other for a bit before locking up, Punk chain wrestling into a headlock from Cena until Punk takes them to the ropes and misses a kick. Anaconda Vice fails and Cena locks in an arm bar, taking Punk down. Cena continues on with a shoulder block after Punk gets some distance and puts him in a sleeper.
Finally Punk gets control and locks in a rear-naked choke. (Lots of rest holds so far =/) Cena gets separation just to get shoulderblocked, then they tease both the Attitude Adjustment and GTS before circling each other once more. Multiple kicks, punches and stomps later, Cena takes Punk down and barely gets a cover before trying another headlock, getting clotheslined for his trouble. Cena goes for another headlock and Punk reverses it into a slam, another quick cover with a two count. Cena manages a fishermen suplex on Punk and gets another two count. The Attitude Adjustment that follows is countered into a DDT, followed by another two count.
Punk locks his legs around Cena's throat but Cena lifts him up. Punk elbows him to freedom and slings Cena out of the ring. Hits a knee off of the second rope to Cena's neck, receives another two count. Punk misses a splash into the corner when Cena moves and slams his shoulder through the turnbuckle into the post. Another two count follows a clothesline and Punk goes for another headlock. Cena bodyslams Punk out of the ring, rolls him back into the ring but only gets a two count (anyone surprised? No?). Slams Punk over and yet another two count. Pulls off a twisted Attitude Adjustment due to issues with his knee, but only another two.
Cena starts punching Punk until Punk takes the advantage, hitting a few punches of his own before Cena locks in an abdominal stretch. Punk starts raking at his eyes before hitting a hip toss; they fall after going for the same move at the same time and Cena continues slamming Punk before going into the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Punk stops him, sends him out of the ring and dives through the second rope into him. Slings Cena back in and climbs up to the top, misses a crossbody. Cena again goes for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, followed by the Attitude Adjustment but Punk gets out and sweeps Cena's legs out from under him, managing our new favorite thing, a two count! Punk goes for a GTS but Cena reverses it into a gutwrench powerbomb and another two count.
Attitude Adjustment attempt but Punk reverses it into two knees to Cena's face and a bulldog before a successful crossbody. Yet another two count before Cena dodges another kick from Punk, getting the STF locked in. Punk struggles to the bottom rope and manages another kick but only gets another two count, goes to the top rope. Cena rolls through his attempted move and sets up the Attitude Adjustment (here my feed cut out for a second, the ONLY problem I had with it all night, so I'm just guessing for a sec) then locks in the STF. Punk tries to get to the rope but Cena pushes him back to the middle of the ring, effectively causing his grip to slip shortly afterwards. Punk locks in his own submission, choking Cena out with his own arm basically, just for Cena to reverse it into an Attitude Adjustment. Another two count follows and Cena goes to the top rope.
Punk slams him, another two count follows. Punk motions for GTS but Cena gets to the ropes, slips out of the hold and catches Punk on the top rope before hitting a leg drop off the top, only getting another two count. Cena then takes Punk to the top and tries an Attitude Adjustment off of that but Punk fights out and Cena rolls through his reversal attempt. Punk manages to hit GTS to the ribs but Cena falls out of the ring. As Punk tries to get Cena back inside, Vince and Laurinaitis come out, distracting Punk and allowing Cena to lock the STF in once more. Vince immediately orders Laurinaitis to go tell the time keeper to ring the bell, declare Cena a winner, but he's barely around the ring when Cena breaks the hold and clotheslines him. He tells Vince not like this before returning to the ring and a waiting GTS. THREE COUNT! YES! Afterwards, Vince stares blankly on for a bit before rushing to the announcers' desk and grabbing a headset, ordering ADR out to cash in his briefcase-- NOW!
ADR comes out a moment later, rushing to the ring with his briefcase, but Punk intercepts him before the referee can take the case and kicks him, knocking him out. He then leaves with the title belt through the audience after blowing a kiss to an enraged Vince.
