"Ughn…" Shuichi shifted in an attempt to roll over so that he had his back to the window while trying not to fall off the couch. It was morning which meant that soon, Shuichi would have to get up and go to work. However, that was something that he really didn't want to do.

I'm going to assume the letter was from Ryuu-chan, I remember reading that he only knows one kanji. Wow, I know more kanji than him... :)

BTW, I think you meant "asphyxiation", not "affixation". :)

Yep, Ryu only knows the character for horse.

My kanji skills have always been crazy (I'm OK at reading but have trouble writing or says them). How many are you up to now?

Hmm, I can recognize...on a very good day...maybe...40? I have a LONG way to go. My brain just doesn't like to accept kanji. It just all looks like abstract art to me. :)

It's even worse when teachers start explaining why certain kanji are written like they are. Some are supposed to look like what they mean. Some, like the kanji for big (大）does make sense. It does look like a guy with his arms out going 'this big.' Other ones... not so much though...

Why can't they all be as obvious as the kanji for 'tree'? It looks just like a tree! Two trees and you have woods, three and you have a forest. So easy!

I really need to step up my kanji practice. I've been at this for YEARS and I feel like I'm not where I should be.

Also, the verb 'uketsukeru' makes me giggle. Uke. Heh.
