- I think it's the fact that I haven't seen the sun in about 4 days now, but I really just want to go back home and crawl under the covers. None of my usual crutches are working, not streaming NPR, not my morning cup of Yogi Teas' Perfect Energy. I just got back from 7-11, where I hoped to still find Pumpkin Spice Lattes in the machines to perk me up, but had to settle for a Cinnamon Cookie cappuccino. It's not as good as a Pumpkin Spice Latte, if you were wondering; not in taste and not in instant ability to make me feel better.
- I spent all yesterday on the couch watching things on the television. For the first part of the day, it was Sherlock series 2 (even though I spend 79% of every episode annoyed about everything that is not the Inspector or Molly) mostly just so I could talk with
johnnybvo about it. I don't know why, being as I'm never going to convince him that the series is lacking and he's never going to convince me that the series is good. We might as well talk politics. Although every once in a while he'll concede some minor point I've made, so that's fun. I takes my victories where I can get them.
- Then I watched a movie called Eagle vs. Shark (2007, ***) which was the weirdest movie from New Zealand that I've ever seen, but I'm fairly sure I liked it. I chased that with Sliding Doors (1998, ***), which was also weird, not least of all because I couldn't see what either Helen or Lydia saw in Jerry, and I found that really distracting. Can't see ever watching it again, but it wasn't bad.
- As if sitting on the couch all day wasn't bad enough, I also ate almost an entire resealable 11 oz bag of Reese's Pieces, and I'm pretty sure it all went right to my face since I look like I just had my wisdom teeth extracted again (think chipmunk). I also had a million slices of Safeway's Sock-It-To-Me Pudding Ring cake, which they might as well call crack cake, because I could eat an entire one by my lonesome in one sitting.
- Oh, on the topic of movies, I'm really excited to see Ralph Fiennes' Coriolanus, despite the fact that I only learned about the existence of this Shakespearean work approximately 10 days ago and have never read it. (Btw, am I the only one coming from that place? I feel like Brown owes me a partial refund.)
- It's only January 23rd, and I've already managed to incur late fees from the library. How is that possible? (I'll tell you how, because Baltimore County doesn't send out due date reminder notices like every other library system in Maryland. I never had a chance!) So much for the new year, new me.
- New job is still going fairly good! Had my first trial, and it went pretty well. There's been one hitch post-judgment, which is all the more aggravating for the fact that it was self-inflicted. Suffice it to say, I am cursing my inclination to throw the other side a bone. I have my second trial on Friday, and I'm actually more nervous about that, because it'll involve oral argument on a summary judgment motion and oral argument on the other side's request for injunction...both of which are things I've never argued before in court. So there's that.
