I'm gonna double-standard it up in here, but I'm rather saddened to hear that Mike Jacobs tested positive for HGH. Not surprisingly, the Rockies have been quick to release him. This news is especially distressing coming on the heels of a nice little write-up about Jake's work ethic and professionalism in the minors. Troy Renck (Denver Post) is reporting that Jake said taking HGH was "the worst decision he could have made." After David Wright.
Sorry, I couldn't resist. Still: really sad. I swear.
The first North American professional athlete to test positive, even. If it weren't for bad luck, Jake'd have no luck at all. I hope he's able to redeem himself and make it back into pro baseball, although his young family (he's got twins!) might not mind having him around more often. So. Semi-bright side. I guess.
