- Funeral services for long time Orioles umpire's assistant Ernie Tyler were yesterday. If you've ever seen an O's game, Ernie was the old guy who could often be seen on broadcasts running out to the plate to refresh the home plate ump's stock of baseballs. He was 86 and worked with the Orioles for over half a century. He never missed a game for 48 straight years (and when he finally broke the streak, it was to attend Cal Ripken's induction into the HoF at Cal's invitation). It feels much like when we lost Elrod Hendricks. There just aren't that many people associated with the Orioles like Elrod and Ernie - People that you could reach out and touch or talk to just about every game, if you wanted. They were both so incredibly accessible, and I don't know that there's anyone still with the team who will take up that mantle.

I really hope the organization does the right thing and honors him with more than a patch. Of course, they still haven't even retired Elrod's number, so who knows.

- Because I can't have been the only one wondering: Skylar Grey (who sings the hook on Em's I Need A Doctor) is indeed the artist formerly known as Holly Brook who is probably best known as The Chick Who Sung The Chorus on Where'd You Go?. You know - the song with the rapper dude from Linkin Park? Where'd you go / I miss you so / seems like it's been forever since you've been gone / please come back home.

She is apparently a hip-hop hook/chorus machine. She appears on Lupe's Words I Never Said and Diddy's Coming Home, and also co-wrote Love The Way You Lie.
