Inception: As I told
johnnybvo, the only things I wanted to slash after (finally) seeing this movie were Arthur and the pants he was wearing in the hallway sequences. Well, that's not true. I kinda wanted to slash Dom/Arthur, but Nolan cut me off at the knees with Ariadne being all Nancy Drew about Dom's Mal issues. The movie made for an interesting couple of hours, but not quite the mindbending trip I was expecting (nor the explosion of slash I hoping for). I give it a solid B+, and will be perfectly okay with never seeing it again. I haven't felt this left out of a movie lovefest since Brokeback Mountain.
The PA Renaissance Faire: On the subject of things that seem overhyped - having read lots of reviews calling this one of the best Ren Faires in North America, Bri and I drove up to Manheim, PA yesterday to partake. Only to find out it was very similar to MD's Renaissance Festival. The joust was better, but I think in all other respects the MD Ren Fest equals the PA Faire, if not bests it outright. (Really, Pennsylvania, you have crepes and red velvet cake, but no mac and cheese on a stick?) Still, I'm not disappointed that we went, as it was only my second Renaissance Faire, and I'd never had anything to measure Maryland's against.
Playoffs: Game 1 of the NLCS was a bit of a disappointment - I really wanted a 1-0 nailbiter, and here comes Cody Ross all kicking ass and taking names. At least the Philly crowd wolf whistling Tim Lincecum made for some fun. I called for a Phillies win last night, so I'm actually surprised Roy O didn't get shelled (sorry, Giants fans. Game 3 is tomorrow at 4, and I gotta see what Matty Cain does so I guess I'll be in early and leaving by 3:30. Thanks for the excuse, Fox programmers! (Although, seriously, what is that timing about? Glee's not even new this week, I hear.)
I have to admit, I don't hate that Colby Lewis got the win in Game 2 of the ALCS. He's hard to root against, and if the Rangers had to finally win one at home, I'm glad it was behind an unheralded journeyman like Lewis. As for Game 3, Michael Kay had to go
and open his stupid mouth, reminding me of part of the reason why you can't root for the Yankees, you know, ever. Can't help but root for Lee, but maybe the Rangers' bullpen will come through with another blown hold/save so I can have my cake and
see that ridiculous expression on Nolan Ryan's face again, too.
