~ Last night I dragged johnnybvo and rickenbacker down to Fells Point so I could take advantage of those groupons for "gourmet" hotdogs. First of all, it took us 40 minutes to get down there! Second of all, parking was ridiculous! (I know it's Fells Point, but I had thought we might be okay since it was a Tuesday night. Wrong.) Third of all, Stuggy's, calling yourself gourmet is a real stretch. I don't think we had anything I couldn't have made myself if I could have been bothered. I had the Wild Thing (bison sausage, blue cheese, red onions) and the chili. My first and last time having bison sausage, for the record. It was kind of sweet, and not at all evocative of the wild frontier in the way that you would expect of something made from bison. The blue cheese sauce/dressing, however? Was awesome. So they had that going for them.

johnnybvo had the Motor City Coney (all beef dog, chili, shredded cheddar, and red onions), and Bri had the fried pickles. We topped it all off with Stuggy's fried oreos, which were voted Baltimore's Best Dessert this year by people with no taste. Essentially, these were oreo cookies inside of balls of beignet dough.

The entire experience just made me yearn for Spike's, a real gourmet hot dog joint that I had to leave behind in Providence when I graduated from college. Best. dogs. ever. Their buffalo chicken sandwich was also killer; I've yet to find its match.

~ Roy O played left field in last night's extra innings Phillies game. The crowd gave him a standing ovation when he fielded a fly ball and he actually cracked a smile. BigLeagueStew has screencaps here. First time he's ever played a position other than pitcher in his 13 years of pro-ball; I always get a kick out of that.

~ James Richard threw 6.2 innings of no hit baseball on Monday, to earn himself another start against the A's. Hopefully he can keep it going and recreate the magic of his May start against the team, as opposed to the ugh of his start earlier this August against them. As for Monday, rickenbacker has video and cappage.

~ I hate to even dignify Colin Cowherd by mentioning him by name, but I do so only to say that nothing he has ever done or said has given me any cause to think he is anything less than an unmitigated and questionably educated douche. This thing, with his comments about Cliff Lee, is beyond ridiculous. I would pay real money to see him say that shit to Lee's face.

there's a rumbly in my tumbly, mlb: victoria, mlb: things that are wrong, ways to spend money i don't have, downloads and streams: video, things that make me happy
