So it's been a pretty bad week.
It started with sickness Sunday Night/Monday Morning...and then, today.
I was walking down the stairs at the 86th street subway station and, well, my ankle decided it wanted to go a direction that anatomy usually doesn't allow. This has happened to me before, but it's usually I limp for 5 minutes, and then I'm fine for the most part. But not today.
By the time I got off the subway at Union Square, about 14 minutes later, I couldn't put any weight on my already swollen left ankle. I limped to class, handed in a paper, and when the teacher said "Have a seat," i responded with: "No thanks; I think I'm going to go the Emergency Room now."
So I limped to the ER.
Long story short: nothing broken, and the PA who examined me doesn't think I tore any tendons, so it's just a bad sprain. She said as soon as it doesn't hurt to put weight on it, I can be off crutches, which, when pressed, she said could be "two days to two weeks."
And then I walked into my 6 o'clock class at 6:20, having already sent the message through a classmate that I wouldn't be in class because I was in the ER. She was impressed. I just didn't want to go home because I didn't want to be in bed 3 hours more than I absolutely had to be, and I figured as long as I wasn't at home, I didn't need to be in bed.
So after a leisurely bus ride home (the bus drops me off at practically my doorstep and the subway, well, an evil staircase and multiple blocks away) and a Grilled Cheese Deluxe at the diner, I'm now in bed with ice and elevation and all that jazz...
what a week...
