inept boys

Okay, I've gotten a lot of really bad pick up lines, but I just experienced the most pathetic. First of all, the setting is the weight room at the Y, where I WORK. Second of all, I had just finished an hour on the stairmaster, which doesn't leave anyone looking particularly hot. Third, I was in the middle of a squat set.

And this kid asks me how old I am. I just stared at him. I sometimes ask other people in there how old they are because no one under 18 is supposed to be in there. But I am obviously over 18 and HE doesn't work here. He asked me again how old I was. I introduced myself as the Health and Wellness Director and left it at that. He then kept following me around the weight room asking me if I knew any exercises. I told him it'd be $40 an hour to have me show him and he said he was going to buy personal training.

Okay boys, here're the lessons:
1. Don't ask girls how old they are as a way to get their attention. It's creepy.
2. Don't interrupt them while they're doing something more interesting than talking to you.
3. If you're going to have to pay them to spend time with you, they don't want to spend time with you.

Last night Adam's friend referred to me as "Adam's woman." Adam thought that was so funny, never thinking of me as a woman at all. And I sure don't think of him as a man. Even writing that sort of grossed me out. But this kid was definitely a BOY and I have no patience for that. I may not be a woman, but I'm sure as shit not a girl.
