Recs: (Today is just SPN: Dean, Sam and Dean/Sam--I'll hit J2 soon.)

I was lucky to be involved with this fic as a beta, and these guys made it easy for me. Reading this fic is like watching an episode of SPN--it's got an interesting myth, and the victims are a family with a compelling problem--one that's especially relevant to Dean and Sam.

2. Blue Moon Rising by
harrigan
I really enjoyed this.  It's pre-Stanford, and the boys get involved in a complicated werewolf hunt.  The artwork consists of a series of drawings throughout the fic, and they're all amazing.

The boys have an established relationship here, and this fic gives us little glimpses into their lives as they go about their business, hunting and running from the FBI. It's clever and fun, and it was an overall delight.  I can't wait to read it again!

2. Spark by
pandoraiam
(Major AU where the boys grow up apart and find each other.) This fic was so heartwarming--both of the boys were alternately heartbreaking and endearing, and at the end I was just moved. Don't miss the vid that goes with this fic--it's perfect, and it's posted here, by

3. When It Crackles by

Wow. This fic was very well done--I saw several people comment that it reminded them of The Village, and I thought so as well. The boys move into a commune type setting that's rumored to be a cult guarding the Fountain of Youth, and the investigation gets pretty scary as time goes on.

4. To Write in Ancient Dreams by
albydarned
I was happy to be able to read this fic before posting as well. It opens like a novel, and the descriptions of a snowy New England were so evocative that I felt cold while reading. This one's got a creepy hotel, mysterious runes, and an established relationship (which I love).

And it's not a bigbang fic, but this one's a don't miss:
1. The Last Fifty Miles and The Rule of Three by
katjad
This was written for the EvilSam ficathon, and it does not dissapoint. It's rich and has feeling, and I got swept up in everything that happened. I really can't say more, without giving too much away! :)
