The Obama Happening aka Inauguration
Today New York was enthralled with the Obama inauguration. The Pilates studio, where I take classes, closed the morning session early so that the owner could watch the swearing in and hear the speech in real time. I stopped at Citarella, one of NYC's better food emporiums, and it was practically empty ... there were more employees than customers. I was the only customer at the fish counter ... unheard of. When I got off the subway I could hear Obama's speech from speakers set up on Columbia University's College Walk. I came home and watched the whole thing slightly time shifted. It was an excellent start to what I hope will be an effective administration.
