My Fandoms as Ex's Meme and some other BS

Dec 03, 2009 16:58

I saw this all over my friend's page a while back but never got around to doing it.

My Fandoms as Ex's:

  • The one who seduced you and fucked you over and broke your heart in a million pieces and laughed about it: Grey's Anatomy. (Though Angel and Nikki & Nora came to mind first. Canonically lesbian cops! It was hot and doomed.)
  • The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp in the sheets: Gilmore Girls. (I'm interested when Alex Cabot or Diana Skoris or some other weird crossover is attached. Though if anyone ever comes across Lorelai/Luke/Rachel, link me immediately.)
  • The mysterious dark gothy one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3 a.m. at weird coffeehouses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized he really was fucking crazy: Law & Order: SVU. (Yeah. This is surprisingly accurate.)
  • The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor, and whom you'd still really like to fuck again although you're relieved he doesn't actually live in town: Stargate: SG-1 and Harry Potter. (Oh, look, dark secret.)
  • The steady: BtVS and Angel. (I always, always go back.)
  • The one you repeatedly cheat on your steady with: There is nothing that's had the longevity of Buffy. But my pieces on the side right now could be Leverage and Criminal Minds. I look up Women's Murder Club every so often. (I know some people found the humor off-putting, but when a character comments on a corpse's bikini wax, I'm bound to love it. Also, short haired Laura Harris and Angie Harmon's voice and Aubrey Dollar with her adorable, big, dark eyes and Linda Park as a bitch lawyer.)
  • The alluring stranger whom you've flirted with at parties but have never gotten really serious with: Xena: Warrior Princess and Battlestar Galactica.
  • The one you hang out with and have vague fantasies about maybe having a thing with but ultimately you're just good buddies 'cause the friendship is there but the chemistry ain't: Bad Girls. (It's a rare case where I find the story arc over the first three seasons so satisfying that there's no need to seek out fandom.)
  • The one your friends keep introducing you to and who seems like a hell of a cool dude except it's never really gone anywhere: Doctor Who. (Love it but I can't even lurk consistently.) Firefly, too. (Because while I can totally get behind Inara/Kaylee, I need it to be more lulzy or cracky and there is a sad lack of Inara/Nandi and Inara/Saffron.)
  • The one you slept with on the rebound who still smiles at you, yet you have no interest in any more: CSI. (I was way into this for quite a while, but the only thing I miss is Sofia Curtis. edit: And Lady Heather.)
  • The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep looking at him and thinking, "Him? How the hell did he land all these cool babes?": Supernatural. (This was Criminal Minds. Now I get it.)
  • The one your friend has fallen for like a ton of bricks and whom she keeps babbling to you about on the phone for hours, and you'd be happy for her except you just know it's going to end badly: Glee. (I like it okay, since it's Popular with music and, sadly, no lesbians. But I'm not head over heels. I think I might be in denial about how boring most of it is.)

So, uh, last nights Glee was interesting.

Matthew Morrison normally does nothing for me. And when Will cornered Terri in the kitchen, I'm sure that was supposed to be a very serious and emotional scene. But I had a very serious response that involved my mind taking up a lengthy residence in the gutter, contemplating where that could have gone if it was on Showtime.

That probably wasn't the effect they were going for.

Ooh, there is precedence, though. Remember s2 Angel and Cordelia and that book? Mmhmm.

HI, SPEAK OF THE DEVIL, LOOK AT THIS @ 41:00! http://forum-network.org/lecture/joss-whedon-cultural-humanist (The whole thing is actually pretty cool.) JOSS, I DON'T THINK YOU HUNG THE FUCKING MOON AND I DON'T EVEN LIKE YOU MOST OF THE TIME BUT SOMETIMES YOU ARE AWESOME.

A couple of months ago, Joss Whedon was awarded by Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award in Cultural Humanism, and he answered questions at the ceremony. He said that B/A was like Romeo & Juliet, a 'kiddie romance' - "'Twilight', if you will." He also said that Buffy "loves Spike, or maybe Satsu, I'm not sure sometimes." (Thank you, nikkiwawa79!)

xena, bad girls, harry potter, csi, criminal minds, battlestar galactica, firefly, stargate, grey's anatomy, btvs/angel, nikki & nora, leverage, doctor who/torchwood/sja, gilmore girls, law & order, glee, women's murder club
