I'm going to the Soloman Islands! I'm the first on the list of unranked personnel who are making up a section of soldiers from the company to head over. I'm so stoked, I'm invincible and I'm untouchable. All I want to do is go and celebrate tonight, but no-one is keen for a drink.
I had a bloke come up to the bar tonight and mention how he knew that I was in the army from overheard conversations and how much he respects me and how he wishes he could be like me. If he didn't have his girl at the table I would've suspected he was hitting on me - but it's things like this that make my head the size it is.
I'm unbelievably happy. Six months of peacekeeping, north pacific sun and medals - here I come!
