I still know naught.

The bloke whose job I'm taking over is leaving at the end of the week, and I don't know a great deal of what he does other than work the bottleshop, do the deliveries and occasionally be the manager on duty. Of those I can do the prior two. It's making me a little concerned that I've just taken on a casual job rather than the full time manager position I was hoping for. I have only worked there for about a month, but I think I should have been learning a little bit more than what I have.

However, I do have plans. The function status of the pub could be so much more than what it currently is. I'd like to redo the function menu, add some possibilities to the hire of the room (compared to the standard hire fee) and I'd love to take some of the responsibilities of organising functions. Currently there are five people who take inquiries and organise functions. This means that there are five possible points of contact, and four people that may forget to pass on information to the fifth. The venue manager has very few people skills, possibly because of the long hours he does and the lack of support he gets in manager duties other than the shift to shift running of the pub.

I want to do more but all the ideas are getting shot to pieces by one particular manager. Hopefully that I get my way, my ideas come through and I show that I'm more than just a barstaff.
