“Hae-ah, I love you.” The boy smiled and placed soft kiss on Donghae’s check. Few seconds later after they looked at each other with smile the boy waved and run off, leaving Donghae alone. Donghae saw the car approaching and the next thing he heard was his own scream.
Donghae woke up with cold sweat on his forehead; he placed his shaking hands on his eyes and took deep breath. He walked slowly to kitchen and took bottle of water, his hands still shaking. He looked at calendar on the wall 12/7/2012 - another year had passed. Slowly he made his way to bathroom; he needed shower with cold water to survive the day. The water cooled his aching body, and let him to forget about everything just for few minutes.
On his way to office he made sure to put smile on his face, he didn’t want to worry his co-workers who suffered enough of his bad moods the past 4 years. Donghae greeted his boss who was giving orders to his secretary and sat near his desk full with papers.
“Donghae hyung we want go out after work. Would you like to join us?” asked his co-worker and friend Kibum.
“I’m sorry, but I have things to do today.”
“Hyung, it’s not healthy to stay at home all the time. You should go out.” Siwon, another of his friends said.
“I will. I promise I will go out with both of you but not today.” Donghae smiled and then Siwon realized today’s date.
“R-Right. Have good day hyung!” Siwon smiled and left. Kibum just crossed his arms.
“It’s time to move on. You can’t live all your life and think about him, about “What if..” and…”
“Kibum! It’s not like that…” Donghae cut him “I’m okay, I promise you that so please stop worry about me.” Kibum looked at Donghae’s eyes and nodded. Donghae shake his head and looked at photo frame on his desk. He missed so much this gummy smile; it was last photo with Hyuk Jae before… Before his world collapsed. In the photo Donghae and Hyuk Jae were sitting in small café in Paris, both smiling and holding hands. It was their first anniversary and Donghae made sure to make it special. They stayed in Paris only for weekend and Hyuk Jae cried when it was their time to go back home so Donghae promised him that they will be back there for sure. But he could never fulfill his promise, few weeks after they came back Hyuk Jae was hit by car and died before he could even reach hospital. Donghae was at meeting that day, and didn’t know about Hyuk Jae’s plane to bring him food to work. It was late when he heard the news and the moment he heard them he fainted. It took him almost one week to walk out again so he missed the funeral. Donghae was at zombie like state - he didn’t care if there food at home or if he missed an important meeting…
“Siwon why the rain can’t stop?” Donghae asked few weeks later Siwon who came visit him. It was raining since Hyuk Jae’s death and it made Donghae more depressed.
“Hyung…” Siwon hugged Donghae.
“It hurts…” Donghae cried, he never felt this way before - so broken, so lost…
“Hyung…. Maybe it’s childish but I think it’s not regular rain, it’s like angels crying. Maybe you should visit Hyuk Jae’s grave….” Siwon whispered and Donghae only nodded. Siwon was religious, but even he believed that Hyuk Jae missed his Donghae. And who knows, maybe after visit his lover grave Donghae would feel better.
The next day he walked to cemetery and stood next to Hyuk Jae’s grave. He didn’t cry just touched lightly the cold stone.
“Why Hyuk Jae?” Donghae whispered, “You promised me to come back, you promised that you will never leave me.” He was crying now, his tears mixed with heavy rain. “You always told me to be happy, but how can I be happy when you are not by my side? What am I going to do without you, how can I live without seeing your smile?” He was crying and screaming until he slid to the ground. Suddenly the rain stopped and Donghae looked at sky. “You… Hyuk Jae you were sad because I didn’t come?” Donghae whispered and smiled sad smile “I will be back, I will visit you so please don’t be sad yeah?” that night Donghae stayed there until midnight, telling his lover how much he missed him, how much he loved him. But in the end he never heard anything in response.
“Donghae you sure you won’t come with us?” Siwon came in and cut Donghae’s thoughts.
“Yes, don’t worry about me.” Donghae faked smile and waited until Siwon and Kibum leave the office.

“I miss you.” Donghae whispered “But… It’s the last time I come here because I need to move on. I hope you won’t be mad at me.” Donghae looked at night sky “I wish you could come back.” Donghae took deep breath and left without looking back.

“Yah… Did you saw ghost or something?” The blond asked and pushed past Donghae into the house. Donghae only blinked few times and followed Hyuk Jae to the kitchen. “Hae! What wrong with you? I have something on my face?” The blond pouted when Donghae hugged him.
“I missed you. So so so much.” Donghae whispered.
“Silly! You saw me yesterday!” Hyuk Jae laughed “My mom sent this food; she said you look tired and skinny.” Donghae, still confused, nodded. He looked at the calendar and for the second time in few hours he felt in dream. 5/07/2008, one week before the car accident.
“Let’s eat. I have dance practice later and you have an appointment.” Hyuk Jae was rambling about random stuff and Donghae couldn’t have enough of that voice, that smile and those chocolate eyes.
Donghae pinched himself ‘If it’s a dream, it’s better to wake up now.’ But nothing happened and Donghae found himself standing in dance studio watching Hyuk Jae’s practice.
“Hae! What are you doing here?” Hyuk Jae asked and gulped down whole bottle of water.
“Can’t I visit my boyfriend?” Donghae smiled and placed soft kiss on Hyuk Jae’s lips.
“You never came before.” The last statement made Donghae heart ache. It was true; he never came to see Hyuk Jae not even when he performed. Hyuk Jae was the one who always came to his work with food; he was the one who always took care of him when he was selfish. ‘It will change now’ Donghae promised to himself. Donghae waited until Hyuk Jae changed his clothes, and then grabbed his hand.
“Where are we going?” asked confused Hyuk Jae.
“Where would you like to go? To the moon?”
“Cheesy!” Hyuk Jae laughed. “How about just sit near Han river? We can buy something to eat and the weather so good now!”
“Your wish is my command.” Donghae winked.
“Ew.” Hyuk Jae laughed again and lightly hit his lover on arm.
They found quiet place near the river, and with plate with fresh kimbap the world couldn’t be better for them.
“You got rice here.” Hyuk Jae leaned forward and with his lips kissed away the rice. Donghae blinked few times, shocked to react and ruffled Hyuk Jae’s hair. “Oh, it’s late already. I should go home or Teuk hyung will lecture me again.” Donghae felt uneasy, Hyuk Jae’s older brother never liked him and now finally he understands why.
“I will take you home. Let’s take taxi.”
“No, I want spend more time with you so let’s walk.” Hyuk Jae stood up and stretched out “Ah, feels good!”
They walked quietly side by side, until Donghae took Hyuk Jae’s hand in his.
“Hyuk, did… Did Teuk hyung ever told you to break up with me?” Donghae suddenly asked, watching carefully Hyuk Jae’s reaction.
“Every day since we became a couple.” Hyuk Jae smirked, and realized the hurt expression on Donghae’s face “But I will never do it, I love you and you most important person to me. Teuk hyung just worry about me and I know that deep inside he really likes you.”
“Yeah, that deep feeling really show itself.” Donghae sighed.
“Donghae, I will never break up with you so stops worry yourself about things like that. Seriously what gotten in to you today, you act really weird.”
“Nothing, nothing… Just… Hyuk Jae I promise you that from now on I will be more by your side and…” Hyuk Jae suddenly stopped and titled his head.
“Just call me every day I don’t need more than that.” The rest of the way they walked in silence.
“LEE HYUK JAE! I TOLD YOU ALREADY THAT IN MY HOUSE YOU NEED INFORM ME IF YOU LATE! DID YOU KNOW HOW WORRIED I WAS?!” Leeteuk yells welcomed the couple. Donghae took step back and Hyuk Jae smiled guilty.
“Sorry hyung, I didn’t notice that it’s already that late. And besides that, Hae was with me so it’s fine.”
“No strawberries for you tonight.” Leeteuk said. “Up, now.”
Hyuk Jae sighed and placed soft kiss on Donghae’s cheek and run to his room.
“Leeteuk hyung, seriously you should stop treat him like he 5 years old.” Donghae said, and scolded himself for that.
“You, my dear Donghae, can’t tell me what to do or not to do. At least I pay attention to his needs, you only did that when you celebrate your anniversary. You have no idea how worried he was two days ago when you didn’t pick your phone the whole day, he cried for God’s sake!”
“Hyung…”
“No, you listen to me Donghae. Hyuk Jae my little brother, you maybe was his best friend but there are a different between best friend and lover. He loves you with every sell in his body; he’s ready to give up on his life just to make you happy so why can’t you just for once give his something? Why can’t you surprise him like you did when you took him to Paris? Did you know how happy he was when he came back after that trip? It was his first time outside Korea and you took him to the most romantic city in whole world.” Leeteuk took a deep breath and closed his eyes. “Look, Donghae. I know what you thing but I don’t hate you, I just want see Hyuk Jae’s happy face. So please, if you can’t bring him the happiness he felt when you went to France please leave him.” Donghae was dumfounded. How could he ask him to break up with his own brother? Didn’t he know that it will break Hyuk Jae into little pieces? Or he was testing him?
“I can. I can make him happier. Trust me.” Donghae looked in Leeteuk eyes.

Donghae walked slowly to his apartment. Everything that Leeteuk said to him was true. He was busy with his life, and sometimes he forgot that he was in relationship. He can’t blame Hyuk Jae because the later was always by his side, no matter how tired he was or even if he was in bad mood. Donghae licked his lips and got out of the bed. Actually he took 3 days off just to be with Hyuk Jae and today he planned to take him out to romantic dinner. The most expensive and romantic place at Seoul was “Sapphire Blue” restaurant and with just a little of connection he could book a table for two. “Thank you Siwon, and your family connection.” Donghae mumbled. Around noon he left to jewelry shop, he wanted to buy a ring for Hyuk Jae. Donghae never thought that it would take him almost one hour just to pick one, but he found a tiny ring with little jewel on top of it and it was just perfect.
Next step was to convince Hyuk Jae wear something more formal. He wanted to surprise him so he couldn’t tell him that they are going to fancy restaurant. Lucky for him they both were same size in clothes so he could just pick one of his formal clothes and bring it to Hyuk Jae. Another hour was wasted to convince“little monkey” to wear this clothes but around 7PM they finally was sitting near the table in restaurant.
“Hae… It’s really expensive here.” Hyuk Jae whispered after he read the menu.
“Don’t worry about it, just pick anything you want.”
“I don’t really want something to eat, just…”
“Excuse me.” Donghae waved to the waiter “1 Strawberry cake please and 1 Chocolate one.”
“I know that Teuk hyung said some harsh stuff to you yesterday but Donghae, you don’t have to prove anything to me.”
“I know, but… It’s not because of your hyung. I want to give you something.” He took the small box with the ring and gave it to Hyuk Jae. “Open it.”

“Hey, sleepy head… Time to wake up. You got really important performance today!”

“Hey, Hyuk… C’mon get up or Teuk hyung will kill me this time for sure.”
“Mhmmm…” Was all Donghae heard when Hyuk Jae sat on the bed and yawned. “It was bad idea to do it the night before.”Hyuk Jae complained, Donghae just laughed and kissed his lover.
“Take shower and then I will drop you near your studio. I need to take some papers for work.”
“Hae… Thank you…. For yesterday… And for coming today, because it’s really important to me.”
“I know love.”
Donghae was sitting next to Leeteuk when Hyuk Jae performed - they both screamed like crazy fanboys, even thought Hyuk Jae asked them not to do it.
“You guys, really! So embarrassing.” Hyuk Jae told them when they came into his dress room. He was still wearing leather jacket from the performance and the moment his lover and brother walked in he was busy remove make up. Donghae laughed and kissed him.
“I’m so proud of you! Mom said that she really sorry that she couldn’t come today but she promised that next time she will embarrass you with us.” Leeteuk hugged his little brother.
“Maybe it better if she don’t come then.” Leeteuk slapped playfully his brother and chuckled.
“Brat.” And three of them laughed.
“Hyung, I made lunch for Hae and I’m going to bring it to his work!” Hyuk Jae told his brother when he put shoes and hold a big bag with homemade food.
“Be careful, and don’t come back to late. Mom coming tomorrow we need to clean this house.”
“Yes sir!”
Hyuk Jae put his earphones and hummed to himself a song, he walked slowly and smiled to himself when he imagined how surprised Donghae going to be when he will see all the food. He didn’t notice the green light and was crossing the road when he saw a car speeding to his direction, he stopped to shocked to move and closed his eyes.
“Donghae, you need sigh here, here and here.” His secretary gave him papers “And please remember that Mr. Kim want you to meet him in one hour.”
“Yes, thank you.” Donghae smiled and looked at the watch. 3 more hours to go until the weekend. He planned all the weekend already - first of all he will take Hyuk Jae to ice skating because the later never skate before. Then they will go to grab something to eat and the day after they will go to Everland. Yes, this weekend going to be perfect! With that thought he looked at the calendar on his desk and felt like all blood left his body. 12/7.
“Hyuk Jae…!” he cried and run outside, his secretary voice was left behind. “C’mon love. Pick up, pick up, pick up!” he mumbled to his phone and continues to run. He looked around and then spotted his lover walking to cross the road.
“Hyuk Jae! Stop! Stop!” He cried and run faster. He saw the scared look at Hyuk Jae’s eyes and without thinking he jumped and hugged Hyuk Jae. The next thing he felt was pain and everything went black.
Donghae slowly opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was white and then someone was leaning over him.
“Donghae? Hey… Do you hear me?” the person said.
“Teuk hyung.” Donghae whispered. “What…” and then he remembered. Hyuk Jae. The car accident. “Hyuk Jae!”
“Don’t move, you hurt your head.” Leeteuk said.
“Hyuk Jae, is he…”
“Donghae…”
“He… He’s not dead right?”
“Yah!” Leeteuk punched Donghae’s arm. “Of course not you idiot. He broke his arm and hit his head.” Donghae smiled and relief washed over him. “Brat, I told him to be careful. Anyway he’s asleep because of painkillers and I suggest you to do the same… And by the way Donghae… Thank you.” Donghae blinked few times and then just smiled and nodded.
They was looking at sunset from the Eiffel Tower when suddenly Hyuk Jae started to cry.
“Love? Something wrong?” Donghae asked concerned.
“I’m just happy.” Hyuk Jae sobbed and Donghae smiled. “I’m afraid that it’s going to end soon.”
“No, because it’s just the beginning of our story. New page. New life… And new house in Paris!” Donghae laughed and pulled Hyuk Jae for a kiss.

“No strawberries for you tonight.” Leeteuk said. “Up, now.”
Hyuk Jae sighed and placed soft kiss on Donghae’s cheek and run to his room.
“Leeteuk hyung, seriously you should stop treat him like he 5 years old.” Donghae said, and scolded himself for that.
“You, my dear Donghae, can’t tell me what to do or not to do. At least I pay attention to his needs, you only did that when you celebrate your anniversary. You have no idea how worried he was two days ago when you didn’t pick your phone the whole day, he cried for God’s sake!”
“Hyung…”
“No, you listen to me Donghae. Hyuk Jae my little brother, you maybe was his best friend but there are a different between best friend and lover. He loves you with every sell in his body; he’s ready to give up on his life just to make you happy so why can’t you just for once give his something? Why can’t you surprise him like you did when you took him to Paris? Did you know how happy he was when he came back after that trip? It was his first time outside Korea and you took him to the most romantic city in whole world.” Leeteuk took a deep breath and closed his eyes. “Look, Donghae. I know what you thing but I don’t hate you, I just want see Hyuk Jae’s happy face. So please, if you can’t bring him the happiness he felt when you went to France please leave him.” Donghae was dumfounded. How could he ask him to break up with his own brother? Didn’t he know that it will break Hyuk Jae into little pieces? Or he was testing him?
“I can. I can make him happier. Trust me.” Donghae looked in Leeteuk eyes.
“Good night Donghae.”
Donghae walked slowly to his apartment. Everything that Leeteuk said to him was true. He was busy with his life, and sometimes he forgot that he was in relationship. He can’t blame Hyuk Jae because the later was always by his side, no matter how tired he was or even if he was in bad mood. Their trip to Paris… It was their first anniversary and it was Siwon who suggest this idea - Donghae the helpless romantic was busy with important project that time and almost forgot about it. Now he knew, now finally he understands that Hyuk Jae was the one who was holding their relationship.
When he finally lay on his bed Donghae promised himself that if life gave him another chance he can’t just miss it. With that thought he fell asleep.
Donghae woke up because he felt that someone was staring at him. With much difficult he opened his tired eyes and saw Hyuk Jae who was sitting cross legged on his bed.
“Good morning!” Hyuk Jae smiled.
“W-what…” Donghae blinked confused.
“Don’t tell me you forgot about key that you gave me few days ago.” Hyuk Jae pouted.
“Ye-No. No I didn’t. I just was surprised to see you here.”
“Why? Can’t I come to my boyfriend house and give him his morning kiss?” Hyuk Jae leaned closer and kissed Donghae. “I have to go now; we perform in 2 days and our moves not that good yet.” Hyuk Jae jumped out of the bed. “Oh, I made you breakfast so eat before you go out.”
Donghae licked his lips and got out of the bed. Actually he took 3 days off just to be with Hyuk Jae and today he planned to take him out to romantic dinner. The most expensive and romantic place at Seoul was “Sapphire Blue” restaurant and with just a little of connection he could book a table for two. “Thank you Siwon, and your family connection.” Donghae mumbled. Around noon he left to jewelry shop, he wanted to buy a ring for Hyuk Jae. Donghae never thought that it would take him almost one hour just to pick one, but he found a tiny ring with little jewel on top of it and it was just perfect.
Next step was to convince Hyuk Jae wear something more formal. He wanted to surprise him so he couldn’t tell him that they are going to fancy restaurant. Lucky for him they both were same size in clothes so he could just pick one of his formal clothes and bring it to Hyuk Jae. Another hour was wasted to convince“little monkey” to wear this clothes but around 7PM they finally was sitting near the table in restaurant.
“Hae… It’s really expensive here.” Hyuk Jae whispered after he read the menu.
“Don’t worry about it, just pick anything you want.”
“I don’t really want something to eat, just…”
“Excuse me.” Donghae waved to the waiter “1 Strawberry cake please and 1 Chocolate one.”
“I know that Teuk hyung said some harsh stuff to you yesterday but Donghae, you don’t have to prove anything to me.”
“I know, but… It’s not because of your hyung. I want to give you something.” He took the small box with the ring and gave it to Hyuk Jae. “Open it.”
“Donghae.”
“C’mon.” Hyuk Jae gulped down, his heart beating fast. The golden ring was shining in dim restaurant light.
“It’s beautiful. Thank you.” Lonely tear escaped Hyuk Jae’s eyes.
“Hey, love why are you crying? Don’t.” Donghae smiled and took Hyuk Jae’s hand in his. “I love you.” Donghae whispered and kissed Hyuk Jae’s hand.
Donghae woke up and felt another body lying next to him. He smiled and brushed hair from Hyuk Jae’s face.
“Hey, sleepy head… Time to wake up. You got really important performance today!”
“Fivemoreminutes.” Hyuk Jae mumbled into his pillow and Donghae smiled.
“Hey, Hyuk… C’mon get up or Teuk hyung will kill me this time for sure.”
“Mhmmm…” Was all Donghae heard when Hyuk Jae sat on the bed and yawned. “It was bad idea to do it the night before.”Hyuk Jae complained, Donghae just laughed and kissed his lover.
“Take shower and then I will drop you near your studio. I need to take some papers for work.”
“Hae… Thank you…. For yesterday… And for coming today, because it’s really important to me.”
“I know love.”
Donghae was sitting next to Leeteuk when Hyuk Jae performed - they both screamed like crazy fanboys, even thought Hyuk Jae asked them not to do it.
“You guys, really! So embarrassing.” Hyuk Jae told them when they came into his dress room. He was still wearing leather jacket from the performance and the moment his lover and brother walked in he was busy remove make up. Donghae laughed and kissed him.
“I’m so proud of you! Mom said that she really sorry that she couldn’t come today but she promised that next time she will embarrass you with us.” Leeteuk hugged his little brother.
“Maybe it better if she don’t come then.” Leeteuk slapped playfully his brother and chuckled.
“Brat.” And three of them laughed.
“Hyung, I made lunch for Hae and I’m going to bring it to his work!” Hyuk Jae told his brother when he put shoes and hold a big bag with homemade food.
“Be careful, and don’t come back to late. Mom coming tomorrow we need to clean this house.”
“Yes sir!”
Hyuk Jae put his earphones and hummed to himself a song, he walked slowly and smiled to himself when he imagined how surprised Donghae going to be when he will see all the food. He didn’t notice the green light and was crossing the road when he saw a car speeding to his direction, he stopped to shocked to move and closed his eyes.
“Donghae, you need sigh here, here and here.” His secretary gave him papers “And please remember that Mr. Kim want you to meet him in one hour.”
“Yes, thank you.” Donghae smiled and looked at the watch. 3 more hours to go until the weekend. He planned all the weekend already - first of all he will take Hyuk Jae to ice skating because the later never skate before. Then they will go to grab something to eat and the day after they will go to Everland. Yes, this weekend going to be perfect! With that thought he looked at the calendar on his desk and felt like all blood left his body. 12/7.
“Hyuk Jae…!” he cried and run outside, his secretary voice was left behind. “C’mon love. Pick up, pick up, pick up!” he mumbled to his phone and continues to run. He looked around and then spotted his lover walking to cross the road.
“Hyuk Jae! Stop! Stop!” He cried and run faster. He saw the scared look at Hyuk Jae’s eyes and without thinking he jumped and hugged Hyuk Jae. The next thing he felt was pain and everything went black.
Donghae slowly opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was white and then someone was leaning over him.
“Donghae? Hey… Do you hear me?” the person said.
“Teuk hyung.” Donghae whispered. “What…” and then he remembered. Hyuk Jae. The car accident. “Hyuk Jae!”
“Don’t move, you hurt your head.” Leeteuk said.
“Hyuk Jae, is he…”
“Donghae…”
“He… He’s not dead right?”
“Yah!” Leeteuk punched Donghae’s arm. “Of course not you idiot. He broke his arm and hit his head.” Donghae smiled and relief washed over him. “Brat, I told him to be careful. Anyway he’s asleep because of painkillers and I suggest you to do the same… And by the way Donghae… Thank you.” Donghae blinked few times and then just smiled and nodded.
They was looking at sunset from the Eiffel Tower when suddenly Hyuk Jae started to cry.
“Love? Something wrong?” Donghae asked concerned.
“I’m just happy.” Hyuk Jae sobbed and Donghae smiled. “I’m afraid that it’s going to end soon.”
“No, because it’s just the beginning of our story. New page. New life… And new house in Paris!” Donghae laughed and pulled Hyuk Jae for a kiss.
