So on New Year's Eve, we had a surprise hatching from a pair of my diamond doves. I had thought the eggs weren't viable because I had switched them out and apparently the fakes got thrown out and new ones were laid.

Anyway, I checked on Jan 3rd, and there was a second hatchling, but the first one had died. I was afraid of disturbing the nest, so I didn't do anything at the point. Yea, it sounds terrible, but I didn't want to risk getting the second bird indirectly killed because of my meddling. My hope was that the second one would get fed, and as soon as I knew the parents were feeding the living bird, I'd switch out the nest for a new one.

No dice. They both got thrown out of the nest. The second one was still alive when we found it, but barely. And I couldn't just let it die. So now, I am hand-feeding a two-ish day old bird and praying it survives the night. I'm not hopeful. The bird can barely hold up its neck. But at least I am doing what I can.
