If you believe that you've been discriminated against because you're a transgender individual, and the infraction occurred within the city of Columbus or by a business within the city limits, then you can-within six months of the incident-legally file a complaint with the community relations commission.

From there, the commission will determine if there is enough evidence to conduct a formal hearing. If there is, a hearing date will be set where the plaintiff and the defendant can tell both sides of the story.

If the outcome of the hearing determines that there is proof that a violation of the civil code has occurred, the commission can move to prosecute.

For more information, contact the community relations commission at 645-3366, or located at 1111 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43205."
