Technology sucks ass...
I'm so annoyed right now. Ever since last week, I've been having some serious issues with Internet pop-up ads. They just wouldn't go away. So yesterday morning when I came in and unlocked my computer, there were 52 pop-up windows on my computer screen. I ran SIX Ad Aware scans and removed over 500 files from my computer. I came in this morning, and there were 62 pop-up windows on my screen. All day long, nothing but serious issues.
So THEN, I tried to get into this system called the Mainframe where I can go and check the enrollment numbers in classes or look at the current budget. I logged into it early this morning. After that, I couldn't get back in. Then the Norton Antivirus kicked in and found like, 7 viruses. SEVEN. Are you serious? My friend and co-worker, Meaghan, tried to help me get rid of the registry files and restarted my computer in SAFE MODE. It was a bad idea, because we couldn't hook into the University's network. So my computer was stuck in Safe Mode until probably about 1:30 or 2:00. I'm not sure. I gave up and went to lunch at Pan Thai on Westland Ave. with Meaghan and Alisa (who's LEAVING! for Atlanta on Saturday). That was the highlight of my day. [FYI and on a completely unrelated note: that was the BEST Pad Thai I've ever had.]
Meaghan and I got back to the office close to 2:30. When I walked behind my desk, I jumped at least a foot in the air because I wasn't expecting to see anyone sitting in my chair. But there was my buddy, Dan from IT. He told me that my computer was completely useless and infected with ridiculous amounts of crap. Basically, the virus and/or spyware was rebuilding itself. Great. So now I have to wait until Monday to have my computer completely reimaged. I hate that. This stupid piece of shit is not even a year old yet! GRRRR...
