Yaaaay!
I have details!
Yaaay!
So. I'll be living in Mishima, Japan, which is in Shizuoka prefecture, which is apparently famous for good tea, good fish, and daily views of Mt. Fuji. YES, YES, and YES. Also, it is nearby the Izu Hot Spring district. YES. It apparently has a population of a little over 112,000, so it sounds like a nice little town, not huge, but not a countryside. It also has a villa that was built by Prince Akihito that has really beautiful gardens. 8D
It's 2.5 hours by bullet train to Tokyo....quite far, but still doable, except bullet train is like $70. x_x;
The summer is apparently hot and humid (big surprise--it's Japan!) and the winters mild.
So dates!
September 22 - One-day (that's short!) orientation before classes start
September 24 - Fall Classes start
December 23 - Winter Break starts
January 7 - Winter break ends
January 19 - Fall Classes end
January 27-Feb 4 - Fall Exams (A whole week before exams!)
April 6 - Spring Orientation (A TWO MONTH BREAK OMFG I AM EXCITED)
April 8 - Spring Classes begin
July 14 - Spring Classes End
July 22-29 - Spring Exams
D: I will have no break (or no long break) during spring and basically no summer. D: Oh well! IT'S FUCKING JAPAN omg.
I apparently have to get to Mishima by myself. Gotta take the Narita Airport Express to Shinagawa Station then transfer to the Tokaido Shinkansen to Mishima. Someone will meet me at Mishima. *_* I'm kind of scared for train transfers, lmao. What if I mess everything up DDD:
But that's for worrying about later!
Housing!
I'll have my own apartment and bathroom, with cooking facilities! I'll get a meal stipend to pay for my food. 8D It'll only be $15 a day....I hope food's that cheap. lol. I can use it for grocery shopping and cafeteria and restaurant food. Cool! Maybe I can work the system and save the money for traveling. xD;
I'll apparently have to bring/buy my own towels...and use coin laundry. D: poo. More coin laundry.
Apparently I'll need $300-$500 (approx) a month for personal expenses....Fairly cheap living but more expensive than I'm living now. I'll have to try and get a job. 8D That'll be fun. English cafe, HERE I COME!
Also $200 for books for the whole year? HELL YES.
Apparently we take 10 classes per term. Holy crap! But only 15-18 hours in class per week? That's like, two classes a day, some less than an hour? Weird. But okay. I assume some of those will be the various Japanese classes (reading, writing, listening, speaking?).
That's all the info I have. I AM SO EXCITED. I cannot wait. 8D
