Those 35496876541687 birthdays I missed

Aug 23, 2007 15:05

Okay...so I totally didn't miss 35496876541687 birthdays this weekend. I missed 4. So here goes:

Sammi Cheng turned 35 on Sunday, the 19th. She's a Hong Kong pop singer and film star that's STILL GOING TODAY. Like, woah. lol. Not many Asian artists last that long. So. Well, I've only heard 2 songs from her, but I like them both. They're both upbeat songs, so I'm not familiar with any of her ballads. I couldn't find either of the two songs on Youtube so I picked a ballad. It's called Zhi De. It's not an aamzing song, but it's nice. I wouldn't jump through hoops to get it though.

Sunday was alaso the 30th birthday of Takahiro Yamada, the background vocalist and drummer of the great Jrock band Asian Kung-Fu Generation. If you don't already love AKfG then I'm sorry. And if you don't like them then...I'm sorry. But I like them. They have a unique sound with their vocalist and they have great songs. =D So there. xD

This song is called "Kimi to Iu Hana", or "A Flower Called You." It's a great song, and the music video is really good. =D (I love the crazy dancing on the dock. =D) The lyrics are nice too. They fit the video. :O View those lyrics!

Mkay. And, also on Sunday, Toll Yagami, drummer of the oldish-but-still-going Jrock band Buck-Tick. turned 35. (Can you tell that Buck-Tick is old?) They started off in 1989 and are still going, which is pretty nifty, if I do say so meself.

Anyway, I like BUck-tick a little bit, but not too much. They have this kind of slow, dark sound that I can get kinda tired of quickly, but it's nice to listen tot heir songs once in a while. I pretty much prefer upbeat songs mostly, but sometimes I appreciate some dark, non- rainbow- and fluffy bunny-type music. On that note, I have chosen the video "Kagerou" for you, which seems to contradict my words. It's more of a faster rockish type song, and I usually remember the slow, dark, scary types from them. xD; Well, anyway, enjoy it. And doesn't Atsushi Sakurai, the lead singer, remind you of Snape? xD; (Harry Potter has taken over my brain. o_O; Only Sakurai is Asian and scarier looking. >_<) And I think this is the first time I've ever seen Sakurai do so much movement. xD Also, I believe this song is from the anime xXxHolic. Yup.

And finally, Arai Akino, whose picture is horrible because THERE ARE NONE ON THE INTERNET, turned 48 on Tuesday. Yes. She is very old. (well...not that old but...old enough. xD) She is most famous, I think, or probably best known in the States, for her performance of the Outlaw Star themes, which, when I first heard, I thought were awesome. Akino has a wonderful voice and range, and she can create a mystical sound. It's beautiful. So I'm going to make you listen to those. Well, theoretically, I can't make you, since you have to click the play button before it goes. But...whatever. xD; She doesn't seem to have MVs of those songs so you can just watch the pretty pictures of the Outlaw Star ending (which seem to have nothing to do with the show whatsoever). The first is Hiru no Tsuki (Daytime Noon), the first ending, and the second is Tsuki no Ie (Home of the Moon), the second ending. :3 And don't worry, the versions I'll upload are the full versions. =D

So a quick update on some things: I have decided to shut down my site because I'm a loser and I lost the passion. However, I will still do birthdays (because I enjoy doing birthdays) and I will take the time to find out all the birthdays of important people (and probably if I'm bored all the artists on my playlist). xD; So right...I'll also keep the MP3 Rotation. So check it out, ple-ayse.
