Summary: Even though Juri doesn't know the secret behind why the entire school seems to be against Taiga, he can't help but feel himself falling in love with him. Hidden crushes lead to painful misunderstandings, and before long, it begins to seem as if everyone is fated to suffer heartbreak.
A/N: I'm back! hahaha finally! ^_^ I blame school for making me really super busy. But to be honest, I won't really be less busy until November... (so I may hold off from posting any more until then xD) but for now, I just wanted to post something to let you know that I'm still alive (LOL) and working on a new jrs fic :D Mostly kyomojuri-centric, but there are other relationships in here that are already being revealed ^^ It's (hopefully) not going to be as angsty as my summary sounds (why am I so bad at writing those...? =__=), but it'll be maybe a little more sad than super happy all the time. xD I haven't finished writing this fic yet, so turnout will be a little slow until I do, but this is just a little preview of what's to come :) and on a little side note, YAY for the bakaleya movie being out!! :D hehee <3
EDIT: and yes, I changed the names around because I'm just a lot more used to calling yasuken "Yasui" and hagi-chan "Hagiya"... so.... who cares about consistency?! xD and i took out the jesse/hokuto pairing... because I realized if I put jesse in the storyline too much.. he would end up being kinda evil and didn't want that to happen.. xD I've finished writing the entire fic now! so let the editing begin! xD
Prologue: Who are you?
Looking downward, Juri Tanaka smiled softly, unfolding the crumpled note in his hands.
He’s looking at me!
Stifling his laughter, Juri lifted his gaze from the scribbled words to meet Yasui’s. A mischievous glint reflected in his brown eyes.
Juri shook his head slightly at his friend, a smile still tugging at his lips.
Maybe he loves you so much, he just can’t look away
He loved to tease his friend, but Yasui was clearly not amused.
Love? What are you talking about, Juri?! I don’t even know who he is…
Juri giggled lightly, unable to suppress his laughter any longer.
You never know! He could really be in love with you!
In the seat beside him, Yasui sighed. Juri was just being silly.
Whatever his reason may be… it’s just weird. Whenever I turn around, I always see him looking at me!
Juri shrugged.
Who are you even talking about anyway??
Yasui scrunched his nose, trying to figure out how to describe the boy in question.
Just… turn around…
Again, Juri shrugged, casually turning his head to glance over at the back of the room.
As soon as he did, a pair of dark, unfamiliar eyes returned his gaze. In that instant, Juri realized who Yasui had to be talking about. The boy, whoever he was, with his slender figure, light brown hair, pale pink lips, and almost-piercing, almond eyes, was… beautiful. Juri couldn’t help but feel himself being drawn to his gaze. His eyes had altered the world forever in the space of a heartbeat.
“Who… is he?” Juri breathed softly, not realizing he had spoken out loud.
Yasui shot him a glare of disapproval. He didn’t want to risk getting caught talking during class. Crumpling up another scrap of paper, Yasui scrawled another quick note to his friend.
Juri, snap out of it! What’s wrong with you?
Juri blinked, forcing himself to tear his gaze away from the mysterious boy’s eyes.
Nothing.
Yasui rolled his eyes.
If nothing was wrong, you wouldn’t have written “Nothing”.
Juri faked a yawn, sinking into his chair.
I said nothing, and that’s what I meant
Yasui shook his head and sighed.
What’s wrong? With the way you were staring at him… it can’t be… Love at first sight!?
Juri coughed in disbelief at what Yasui had written.
Love?
Yasui’s eyes widened at Juri’s lack of denial.
You’re not… really in love with him, are you? You can’t love him just by looking at him…
Juri blinked twice.
I’m not in love! What are you talking about?!
Yasui only sighed once more.
He couldn’t believe it. Once again, someone else had stolen Juri’s heart. Someone other than himself. He was always stuck being merely Juri’s best friend. Nothing more. Turning away, Yasui tried to redirect his attention to the teacher’s lecture, even though he knew his attempt would be futile.
From across the room, Hagiya glanced over at his two friends, who were so blatantly passing notes during class. Hagiya laughed lightly, wondering how the teacher didn’t even notice. But when Juri suddenly turned around, and Hagiya tried to wave to him slightly, he received no response. It was almost as if Juri was staring at the person sitting beside him.
Taiga Kyomoto.
If that were true, Hagiya would have to make sure to warn him and Yasui against drawing any connections to Taiga. From what he had heard in the past, getting close to Taiga would only bring them trouble. As if he didn’t already have enough problems of his own. He would have to warn his friends before it was too late.
Little did Hagiya notice, Taiga just then sighed softly in disappointment, his eyes gazing in the exact same direction as his. Except, Taiga wasn’t looking at Juri. His pale pink lips turned downward to form a worried frown, as he realized Hokuto Matsumura really wasn’t going to turn around to meet his gaze.
But no matter how long it would take, Taiga would wait patiently, waiting for him longingly from behind.
No matter what, he would wait for Hokuto’s love to return.
He couldn't lose hope.
