A/N: I'm pretty much done with "Straying into my heart", (yes, only a few more chapters left to post.. ^^) so I started writing my next multichap! :D I had planned on writing a Yamajima & Yamachii fic.. but somehow, this came about. xD oh well, Yuto will still be amazing in it, so I'm using this entry to say HAPPY 19th BIRTHDAY to my one of favorite JUMP members... NAKAJIMA YUTO!! :) I know he will never cease to amaze me :)
Prologue: 「侑李 ♥ 世界一愛してるよ」
“I... I-I really like you, Chinen,” Ryosuke stammered. His gaze sank down to his shoes, as his cheeks flushed a vibrant pink.
Chinen grinned, failing to suppress his rampant heartbeat. “Do you really like me?”
Ryosuke nodded, still unwilling to lift his gaze. “Un, I like you so much.”
“How much?”
“Much more than anything in this world,” he murmured back softly.
Chinen smirked teasingly. “That’s not enough.”
Silently, Ryosuke advanced to the center of the school’s courtyard. Filling his lungs with one last deep breath, Ryosuke freed himself from the last remnants of all his inner inhibitions.
He screamed out, “I LOVE YURI THE MOST IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!”
The school erupted in shocked uproar of the students as Ryosuke cheeks flooded with a glowing red.
Across the courtyard, Chinen slowly, softly, blushed ashamedly as well.
Later that day, being the last day of school for the year, after classes had ended with cheers of happiness and smiles all around, Chinen and his friends quickly packed up their numerous belongings, ready to leave, and piled onto the bus for the final ride home.
To Chinen's surprise, as soon as he had sat down, Ryosuke sat himself down beside him.
“Hey,” he grinned broadly.
Chinen nodded back his hello. The two of them hadn't yet spoken about that moment, but he couldn’t help but guess that Ryosuke must’ve been thinking about it, too.
Could it really have been just a joke?
He had always assumed Ryosuke and him were just such close friends they could joke about their “love” freely, but something about today, something about the way Ryosuke had screamed his confession to the world, something about the dark red coloring his cheeks, something told Chinen that this time, Ryosuke may not have been merely joking.
Just as he was about to garner the courage to question Ryosuke about the true meaning behind his words, Chinen turned to face his friend, but then realized Ryosuke had fallen asleep. Chinen smiled sadly, understanding that he had lost his chance. But somehow, the peaceful image of Ryosuke sleeping beside him was able to comfort him, despite his disappointment.
As his other friends began to immerse themselves in conversations, cheerful laughter and heated discussions filled the bus, but Chinen personally chose to separate himself from the group.
His gaze never drifted away from Ryosuke.
Before long, Ryosuke stirred in his sleep, catching Chinen by surprise as the older boy gently shifted his weight to lean his body on him. Chinen unconsciously shirked away at the sudden movement, but to his relief, rather than waking, Ryosuke merely adjusted himself to the most comfortable position, his head now resting on Chinen’s shoulder.
A soft smile returned to Chinen’s lips.
Ryosuke is so sweet…
With a slight hesitance, Chinen gently stroked his friend’s soft brown hair, his fingers traveling downward to lightly caress his friend’s cheek before tracing over his pale pink lips.
But then, his alarm clock rang.
Sighing, Chinen dragged himself out of bed as the last remnants of his dream faded away, back into his memories. It felt like it had been so long since he and Ryosuke had been so close.
Somehow, for some awful reason, since then, everything had changed between them.
~ 1 year later ~
“Yuto, Yuto, what do I do?” Chinen cried, failing in his vain attempt to hold back his tears. His eyes stinging, the warmth of the droplets etched darkened trails down his cheeks. He clutched his friend’s waist despairingly, desperate hold onto some form of stability. Vulnerable, helpless, he needed protection.
“Chinen, what’s wrong?” Yuto’s eyes widened in fear; the worry shivered in his voice. He had merely opened the door, seeing Chinen waiting for him outside on his front doorstep, and the younger boy had clasped him without an explanation, leaning his head onto Yuto’s shoulder, and burying his tears into the softness of his sweater.
Chinen stammered, his lips unable to form proper words, “H-He t-told me…” He tightened his grip around Yuto’s waist, forcing himself to recount what had happened.
“Who? Who did this to you?” Yuto tried his best to keep his voice calm, but it was so hard to stop himself from getting angry, seeing his friend had been hurt so terribly.
“My b-best friend…” Chinen whimpered, squeezing shut his reddened eyes. “M-My best friend j-just t-told me…” Fresh tears were streaming from his eyes as Chinen forced himself to continue, “He told m-me, he still loved m-me… e-even after all these y-years…”
Yuto’s chest tightened, dread sinking into his heart. He could feel the tears welling in the corners of his own eyes as he pulled Chinen’s trembling body even closer. Touching his cheek gently to Chinen’s forehead, Yuto closed his eyes with an inaudible sigh.
A single name echoed bitterly in both of their minds.
Ryosuke…
