In an interview over dzMM, Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye said those opposed to the VAT measure were "using the argument that our masses will bear the burden" of the increase.
No, the poor will not bear the brunt of the VAT increase, it's the people already paying the right taxes who will bear the brunt of this increase while the ones who evade taxes still go scot free.

I don't know why the government seems to enjoy making life harder for people who actually follow the law and the businesses that follow all the policies and regulations of the different government agencies that they have to deal with (DTI, BFAD, BOC, etc.,).
