Summary: After Jin moved in with Kame, Izza’s birthday quickly came, what will the boys do to make her happy on her special day?
A/N:  This is a birthday fic, late by two months, for izza_chan  of ANGELS.  I’m sorry this is so late darling.  I had huge issues with convincing myself to write this, I had muse issues but finally I sat down and was just able to write the last 8 pages.  This is age pages of kind of barely there fluff :/

[Akame Apartment]

Kame rolled over, trying to avoid the thin sliver of morning light falling on his face.  He scrunched his nose up a bit in annoyance before he hit something warm.  He frowned, after a quick prod he realized just what… or who was next him.

“Good morning to you too,” Jin drawled sarcastically, cracking an eye open once Kame had poked him.

Kame peeled his eyes open, trying to blink his confusion away, “Why is he here?” he wondered silently before he realized Jin had spoken, “Sorry, morning.”

Jin frowned, “You’re confused… you forgot,” he accused lightly, his frown deepening.

Kame blinked in surprise before the past few days came back to him.  The éclairs, an argument, monopoly, more of the ANGELS’ deceit, and a sudden friendship forming between the man in front of him and the girls one floor up.  Now he was the one being ditched, in a way, in favor of the girls’ attention.  But, from the events one thing had surely happened: Jin had moved into his apartment.

Kame smiled, a bit tiredly but nonetheless brightly and leaned forward a bit to place a kiss on the other’s frown, “It’s only been a couple days, I’m still a bit thrown off at times.” Fast, it was so fast.  Wasn’t it just a month ago that he had walked in on that fateful photo shoot, the one that turned him inside out, his world upside down, and brought him something he had barely even dreamed possible.

Jin shrugged, willing to understand and brought a hand to rest on Kame’s side.  He shot a look at the clock and groaned, “Kame, why did you have to wake me up super early on our day off?” he pouted.

“I was trying to get back to sleep when I ran into you,” Kame mumbled, and finally noticed the chill of the room, “it’s fucking freezing in here!”

Jin shrugged and dragged Kame towards him, wrapping him in his arms to share heat, “Go back to sleep,” he tugged the bedding back up to cover both of them again.  He frowned, feeling as if he was forgetting something.  Something definitely important, but he couldn’t put his finger on it.

Kame felt a nagging sensation at the back of his brain, he knew there was something important.  Something that if he didn’t remember he’d be potentially murdered.  That meant one thing: ANGELS.

On cue Jin’s cell phone started to blast music: Boom, Boom, Boom gotta get, get.  Yo, I got that hit that beat the block you can get that bass overload I got that rock and roll, that future flow

“Answer it, it could be important…” Kame mumbled worriedly.

Jin turned over and swiped his phone off the bedside table and frowned.  He answered the phone, “Aya love, why are you calling me at six in the morning?  What are you doing up at six in the morning for that matter?”

Kame winced at how cheerful she sounded, “Hallo dear!  Put the phone on speaker, please.  I know Kazu-Kazu is there!”

Jin sighed and hit speaker, “It’s on speaker…”

“Morning Kazu,” she answered cheerfully, “If you’re asking why I’m up so early then you’ve obviously forgotten!”

“Did you stay up all night?” Kame asked warily, “You always get super hyper when you haven’t slept…”

“That doesn’t matter.  What’s today’s date?” Ayame questioned seriously, all playfulness leaving her tone.

Kame thought he heard a ding in the background, “Are you in an elevator?” he frowned, where could she be going this early?

“Don’t worry about it,” after a long pause the next thing they knew their bedroom door burst open.

“Good morning love birds!” She exclaimed, showering them with confetti.

“What the hell?” Jin snapped, sitting up suddenly and closing his phone, “Where the fuck did you get confetti this early?”

“You get used to it,” Kame assured him lazily, taking his time in sitting up, “Why are you here, Aya?”

“What’s today’s date?” She sang, a knowing look in her eye.

“January seventh…” Jin answered immediately.

Kame’s eyes widened and then Jin remembered the significance, “Fuck, it’s Izza-baby’s birthday!” Jin exclaimed.

Kame’s eyes shot to the calendar hanging by the doorway, marked in large letters, “Izza’s birthday!” adorned January seventh.

“How could we… shit it’s too late to go find something now!” Kame began to panic.

Ayame waited patiently as Jin tried to calm his lover.

Kame frowned, “Have you guys ordered a cake yet?”

“Ordered?” Ayame shot him a confused look, “I was going to make it this afternoon.”

Jin’s eyes widened, “you were going to make a cake for like… twenty people?”

“Of course, I made the cake for Christmas and New Years,” Ayame shrugged, “Why?”

“What if we made the cake?” Kame asked, “We can make a ton of stuff for her.  She loves chocolates, cookies, and all that sort of thing….”

Jin smiled, “I’m sure she’d love it.”

“That sounds awesome, and it gives me more time to make sure everything is perfect but… will you call me when the cake layers are done?  I want to do the decorations.”

“You don’t trust us to…” Jin started.

“Exactly,” she smirked, “Now, do you have the things needed?  Cake pans…” she started listing off a ton of things.

“I… don’t normally bake in the kitchen here?” Kame sheepishly admitted.

“Fuck…” Jin muttered, rubbing his eyes.

“I’ll be right back,” She disappeared.

Jin saw the panic start to creep up into his lover’s eyes again.  He leaned over to place a reassuring kiss on the other’s lips, “Don’t freak out.  It’ll be ok.  Izza will forgive us if everything isn’t perfect.  She’s the least likely to murder us.”

Kame relaxed into Jin’s side, wrapping an arm around his waist, “I can’t believe I forgot her birthday…”

“It’ll be ok,” Jin repeated, rubbing circles into Kame’s back.  He could practically see the other’s mind working, trying to figure out what to make.  They sat in a fairly comfortable silence for a few minutes until they heard the front door slam open accompanied by a series of metallic bangs.

They exchanged looks before jumping out of bed and walking towards the kitchen.  They found Ayame and Yuu setting down countless bags.

“What’s going on?” Kame scratched his head in confusion.

“Alright, we brought all the baking stuff,” Yuu announced, “You’ll have to go shopping for the ingredients… we’re kind of horribly low on food supplies.”

“How is that possible?” Jin frowned, “You always have tons of food.”

“All the girls were making special New Years food, yuèbĭng1 and soba and stuff…” Ayame sighed.  She heaved a giant book onto the table, “Careful with this cookbook.  My mum gave me a copy of her cookbook, with all our family and special recipes written in along with the printed ones.  This is my baby… now I’ve tabbed the pages for the cake I was going to make.  It includes the fondant and royal frosting.  Now… I put what colors I need the icing to be alright?” She flipped a page and started to talk some more.

Jin turned to Kame to see the boy taking notes on a scrap of paper, “What?  I’m not fucking this up Jin, she,” he pointed to Ayame, “will murder me for not making Izza’s cake perfect.” Jin chuckled in response and listened to Ayame continue to ramble.

“Good luck.  You’ll do amazing, don’t apply the fondant until I arrive alright?” Ayame kissed both of them on the cheeks.

“So long as the cake tastes good, Izza won’t care,” Yuu assured them, “And if Aya gives you a hard time call one of us alright?”

“Thank you, Yuu,” Jin grinned as he walked them out before turning back to Kame, “I think we have to get dressed.  Think the supermarket is open this early?”

“It had better be, we have a TON of work to do,” Kame announced before running to the bathroom.

Half an hour later they were in the car, headed to the nearest supermarket, toting the cookbook.  As Jin drove Kame was trying to figure out what they had to buy.  Once they arrived they donned hats, sunglasses, and scarves in an attempt to stay anonymous.

Jin lugged the book out of the car, “Shit, this thing weighs like four or five kilos!” he complained.

Kame clicked his tongue as he grabbed a cart and immediately went to the baking section, “Go get butter… at least five boxes, more to be safe.  While you’re there grab a ton of eggs, heavy whipping cream…” Jin tried to keep things straight as Kame shot out the list before running off.

Jin hurried over to the needed section and collected all the items.  When he returned with the items balanced on the book he found Kame puzzling over the different flours.

“What’s the difference?” Kame asked him frantically.

“Just get both?” He offered, “I mean, this must be for cakes… and this for the other stuff.”

Kame shot him a winning smile before moving on to the next items.  Jin grinned back and grabbed a huge container of powdered sugar, remembering it from Kame’s mutterings in the car.  He followed Kame with their ever growing cart, occasionally catching his eyes wandering a bit lower than necessary.

Kame glared, “Stop staring at my ass and get this from the top shelf!” he demanded, once again growing panicked.

Jin hopped over and quickly grabbed the bottle and stuck it in the cart, “Today is going to be hell…”

Kame smiled and tugged Jin over for a quick peck, “I’ll make it up to you tonight…” he promised, winking before shooting off to take bags and bags of chocolate from the shelf.

“Kame, that’s not the right stuff,” Jin groaned.

“What?” Kame looked up.

Jin started putting all the bags back on the shelf, “She specifically said to use this brand.”

Kame immediately pulled out his notes, searching for a specific chocolate brand, “I have nothing on the brands here!”

“It was the last thing she said before skipping out of our apartment!  Trust me on this, alright?” Jin looked at Kame surely.

“Alright,” Kame started calculating the amount of chocolate needed before practically taking all they had in stock of that brand.  He laughed nervously, “If anyone else needs this chocolate they’re so fucked,” he mumbled before grabbing some white chocolates accordingly.  He reached up to the top shelf to grab some cocoa powder, Jin quickly reached up from behind him and snatched the desired item off the shelf.

“Careful with the high stuff, I don’t want the shelves coming down on us,” Jin sighed.

Half an hour later they were walking back to the car, trying not to squash the eggs or strawberries.

“What should we make first?” Jin asked after putting everything into the back of the car.

“We should start the cake…” Kame mumbled.

Jin frowned, “But don’t the truffles take something like twelve hours in the fridge?”

“They do?” Kame snatched the giant book from Jin and flipped to the page, “seriously?!” He narrowed his eyes, “What does this note say? Why do half of these things have to be written in English?” He demanded of Jin

“Cause her mom lives in America, I don’t know!  Don’t take out your anger on me,” Jin leaned in, “Umm…” he sighed, “God her handwriting is so hard to read.  Can be shortened to 4 hours, until solid throughout.”

“Alright… that’s perfect,” Kame began calculating things again.

Jin pouted at the lack of a thank you but drove off anyway, still unsure as to why he felt like he was forgetting something.

“What else does Izza like…” Kame muttered, “I should remember more of these things.”

“Cookies?” Jin offered weakly.

Kame’s eyes lit up, “They made these double chocolate chip cookies once, she absolutely loved them.  Aya said they’re the easiest things to make,” Kame began flipping through things.

“Kame…” Jin started as he parked.

“Not now…” Kame waved his hand dismissively.

“But Kame, how are we going to bring all this stuff upstairs?” Jin tried again.

“Call Midori,” Kame sighed, “Get her to come help or something.”

Jin rolled his eyes but pulled his phone out and dialed the number.

“Whaaa?” Midori whined from the other line, “I was sleeping, JinJin.”

“Sorry, can you help Kame and I with something?” Jin asked, sounding a bit strained.  This was not going to be a good day.

“Did you try a new position in bed and get stuck?” Midori teased, “You know I told you not to over…”

“That’s not why!” Jin groaned and hit his head on the steering wheel, Kame jumped when the horn sounded.

“Damn, it would’ve been funny to see.  What do you need?” Midori finally questioned.

“Kame and I need help bringing a ton of bags up to our apartment…” he trailed off and smiled at the phrase.  He always loved how ‘our apartment’ felt when it rolled off his tongue.

“Earth to Jin, stop daydreaming… how many bags are we talking about?  Should I recruit Kazu ‘cause I heard her stumbling around in the hall.” Midori asked.

“That’d be good, we’re in the car right now, see you in a few,” Jin smiled.

“Uhuh,” Midori hung up.

Jin hit the horn again when someone knocked on his window.  He looked over to see Amaya arching a thin eyebrow at him.  He chuckled and waved lightly before opening the door.

“Hey Amaya,” he offered.

“Why are you just sitting here in the car?” she frowned, “Are you being idiots again?  I’d think you wouldn’t have time for it considering you probably forgot Izza’s birthday.”

“Midori is coming down with Kazu to help us carry all this stuff up,” Kame answered, finally closing the book.

“How did you get that book?” Amaya frowned, “Aya treats it like a baby, a baby princess at that.  And you asked the drama queen and the princess to help you carry things?” she sighed dramatically, “I’ll have to help or you’ll have to take three trips and then the brat will whine my ears off.”

“Stop calling me a brat!” Midori whined as she sauntered up, a tired Kazu in tow.

“Morning Kazu,” Kame smiled brightly, “Thank you for your help.”

“You’re welcome,” she yawned and went to get some bags.

Once they piled into the elevator Kame frowned.

“Why were you downstairs this early?” He tilted his head at Amaya.

“Coming home from Yuu’s,” she answered simply, no one pressed for more information, “What is Aya going to do all day now that she doesn’t have to bake the cake,” she crinkled her nose, “she wouldn’t stop mumbling about how long she’d need…”

“She was passed out in the living room when we came down,” Midori grinned, “I was thinking about…”

“No pranks,” Kazu narrowed her eyes, “I can’t handle you both trying to murder each other this early in the morning.”

Once everything was placed in the kitchen Kame led the girls out, “Thank you, we’ll see you later.  Where is Izza today?”

“Ueda came to get her earlier so they could get to Disneyland right when it opens,” Midori explained, “He’s distracting her until we all meet for dinner tonight.”

“He didn’t mention this to us,” Kame pouted.

“Shouldn’t you hurry?  You only have like eight hours to get all of this done,” Amaya pointed out before dragging the two girls back to the elevator.

Kame walked back into the kitchen to find Jin diligently starting the water on the stove and pulling out the other needed pans from the giant bags of supplies.

“Kame can you get the heavy whipping cream out?” Jin was squinting at the handwritten recipe.

[Four Hours Later]

Kame wiped his forehead after opening the oven again.  He set the cookie set on the counter, hoping they had made enough cookies.

“Jiiin~” he called to the older man.

“Five dozen cookies are enough, Kame!” Jin quipped from where he was tempering the chocolate for the truffles, “Can you get the sea salt?”

“Why do you need sea salt?” Kame frowned, not moving from his spot.

“For the truffles,” Jin rolled his eyes before walking over to Kame, he opened the cupboard, “it’s apparently the new gourmet thing to do with chocolates,” he grinned down at Kame before bringing his fingers up and swiping across Kame’s lips.

Kame frowned at the warm substance on his lips, “What the hell, Jin?” His tongue tipped out and encountered a dab of melted chocolate.

Jin pushed Kame further against the counter before lowering his head to suck on Kame’s lower lip.  Kame smirked and pulled him closer right before Jin frowned and pushed him back.

“The chocolate!” Jin cried and ran back to the stove, lowering the heat to keep the water in the double boiler from boiling.  He hurriedly checked the temperature, “oh thank god, it didn’t go over temp.”

Kame frowned, “You suck.”

“Later Kame,” Jin waved him off, “Not until after Izza’ birthday party.”

Kame turned bright red and hurried himself with taking the cookies off the pan.  Afterwards he double checked on the shortcake in the oven before glancing over to where Jin was coating the… what was it called again?  Chocolate Ganache?  Something likes that at least.

“Can you come help me put salt on top of these before they dry?” Jin requested, sprinkling a few crystals of sea salt on top of each of the truffles.

Kame hopped over and immediately followed suit, allowing Jin to go back to what he had been doing.

“I think we’re pretty good at this,” Jin grinned, “Aya always makes it look so hard.”

“Because it does look hard,” Kame rolled his eyes, “Just wait until we start on the chocolate cake and at least we don’t have to decorate it.”

[Three Hours Later]

“Holy shit,” Jin collapsed in a chair, covered in flour, powdered sugar, and chocolate, “that is so not fun after the first four hours.”

Kame stared at the counters covered in platters of cookies, strawberry shortcakes, and chocolate truffles.  On the table where the chocolate decadence cake layers and the sheets of fondant icing with chocolate flavoring and some with baby blue coloring and the brown, white, and blue colors of royal and butter cream frosting all sitting around waiting to be used.

“Jin, call Aya while I bring the chocolate plates out,” Kame sighed and opened the refrigerator to find the chocolate plaques for writing their message.

Jin washed his hands before pulling his phone out from his pocket and frowning at a dried bit of chocolate on the edge.  He pressed a few numbers before waiting.

“Are you ready?” Ayame chirped.

“Yeah, will you come down?” Jin scratched at the chocolate, trying to get it off without damaging his phone.

“Be down in a minute.” She answered.

Kame collapsed next to Jin a moment later, “that was painful,” he muttered.

“How do Izza and Aya spend so much time in the kitchen,” Jin groaned, burying his face in Kame’s shoulder.

Ayame burst in and glanced around, “Wow this is a warzone…” she looked around with wide eyes before spotting the exhausted couple and smiled, “I’ll get help and we’ll clean your kitchen for you once I finished.”

She walked to the table and clapped her hands, “Perfect! You made them the right shape and size, I’m glad you can follow directions.”

“Why cubes?” Kame asked tiredly.

“I’m going to make them look like two presents stacked on top of each other,” she explained before going to work, “Ne why doesn’t one of you go get in the shower.  We need to leave for the club in an hour.”

“Why are we going to a club?” Jin frowned, “Izza doesn’t party…”

“It’s her twentieth birthday!” Ayame smiled, “she can finally drink.”

“Oooh!” Jin smiled, “Her first legal drinks!”

“I’m going to go shower,” Kame sighed as the two clubbing friends began to discuss what to order for Izza.

Jin watched Aya drape and shape the icing carefully, completely fascinated with how it came together, “Can I do something?”

“Can you write, ‘Happy birthday Izza’ on one of the plaques?” Ayame asked.

“Uhh…” Jin looked worriedly, wondering how the writing would come out.

“English is fine,” Ayame reminded.

“Uh, alright I think that’ll work,” He said before he was handed an icing piper with blue icing.

He spent the next few minutes perfecting the phrase, doing his best to make it look decorative.

“Perfect, the next plaque is, ‘Love ANGELS and your friends’,” she dictated, “And the third is just a heart.”

He nodded and continued to the next two.  By the time Kame walked out, dried and dressed, the two were balancing the plaques on the top of the cake.

His eyes widened at the cake, decorated as if wrapped in wrapping paper and ribbons.  There was even a tag made to hang off the side that said, ‘20th B-day’ with tiny flowers decorating it.

“Holy… shit,” he mumbled.

“What do you think?” Ayame grinned, “Jin helped me with the plaques and the ribbon,” she pinched Jin’s cheek, “I’m getting you to help me on things like this from now on.  It makes it so much easier.”

Kame resisted the urge to slap her hand away from Jin’s cheek before she stood back up.

“I’m going to get one of the girls to come help me clean up, you both should get ready to go,” Ayame offered.

“You need to get ready too…” Kame frowned.

“I already have my outfit picked out, I just need to wash my hands again and do my hair and make-up.  I’ll make Midori help since she’s getting ready right now.  Go!” She ordered and shooed them into their room and closed the door.

Kame smiled and shook his head, “She’s so pushy….”

“It’s adorable,” Jin chuckled, walking into the bathroom. “I’m going to shower so start getting ready.”

[Half an Hour Later]

Jin stood staring at the closet, trying to decide what to wear.  He kept reminding himself that he wasn’t going JUST clubbing but it was Izza’s birthday.

“Jin, do you know where my bronze star necklace is?” Kame called.

“Uh, it might’ve gotten into my jewelry,” Jin answered.  He went to his own collection and began sorting through it, “Kame it’s… SHIT!”

“What’s wrong?” Kame ran over and blinked at the box Jin was holding.

Jin pulled the top off and bit his lip.  Inside sat two pieces of jewelry, both made of sterling silver with aquamarines set into them.  The necklace was a delicate chain weaved of two thin strands with a dragonfly pendant hanging from the end.  The earrings were two tiers of teardrops shapes rings lined in aquamarines.

Kame frowned, “Are you cheating on me or something?”

“What?” Jin’s eyes widened, “Why would you think that?”

“Well those obviously aren’t for me,” Kame bit his lip, “And why the earrings with that pendant, I mean they go together oddly well though why makes no sense.”

Jin blushed, “The shape of the earrings match the shape of the dragonfly wing shape… I’m not cheating on you.  I can’t believe I forgot about this.”

Kame frowned, “What’s it for?”

“Izza,” he sighed, “I was out shopping after the New Year and I found these… and I remembered it was her birthday today so I got them.  I meant to tell you but you were exhausted and I ended up forgetting…”

Kame sighed, “We’ll give them to her tonight then.  Let me go get the wrapping paper,” he disappeared into the closet and pulled a roll of wrapping paper out.

“I’m sorry we spent all day baking for nothing,” Jin bit his lip.

“It’s ok Jin, it was kind of fun.  Even though every time we started making out you ran off to do something,” Kame narrowed his eyes lightly.

“That only happened twice,” Jin whined.

“Three times,” Kame corrected while pouting.

Jin smiled and trailed a finger down Kame’s face before tapping his bottom lip lightly, “Don’t pout at me like that,” he stole a quick kiss, before leaning down for another, “I’ll make it up for you later tonight, I did promise something involving sucking, didn’t I?”

Kame narrowed his eyes, “you tease…” he started pouting again.

“Get your jewelry and wrap the present while I get dressed?  The sooner Izza has a fun time, we can come back and make up for today,” Jin promised.

[Club]

“But Ueda,” Izza whined, “I’m tired!  I want to go home and see the girls, I haven’t seen them all day.”

“Just stay for a little bit,” Ueda did his best to convince her as he walked her towards the VIP section.

The moment she walked through the door to the private room she was showered in confetti.

“Happy Birthday Izza-baby!” Everyone shouted excitedly.

“Eeeeh!” She exclaimed, bouncing up and down happily, her exhaustion apparently forgotten, “You guys!”

[Half an hour Later]

Izza set her drink down and turned to Ayame, “the cake look so amazing, you outdid yourself!  And the strawberry shortcakes!”

“I only did the decorations on your birthday cake, Akame baked everything,” Ayame winked happily.

Izza tackled Jin from behind, wrapping her arms around his neck to hold on.

“Ack!” Jin barely kept his balance, “Hey Izza, you need anything baby?”

Kame smiled as Izza refused to detach herself from Jin.

“Thank you for all the cakes and cookies and chocolate truffles,” she sang.

Kame smiled, “You were told?”

“Right now, I’m sorry you went through so much trouble,” she finally let go of Jin and attached herself to Kame instead.

“It’s alright,” Kame smiled and nudged her cheek with his nose.

“Ah, present!” Jin pulled the wrapped gift from his jacket pocket, “you guys! We should have cake and have her open presents now!  Before she drinks too much,” he plucked the drink she had just picked up from the new batch being delivered.

“Hahaha, good idea!” Midori giggled and stood up, “Everyone!  Quiet!” She shouted, “Izza-baby is going to open up her presents now!”

They watched each person get tackled and showered with light pecks after she opened their gifts.

Finally he handed over the small wrapped box, waiting for her reaction.

A few moments later both of them had been tackled down to the floor.

“Ow, Izza thank you but get up, get up!  You do not want to touch the floors in a club,” Jin hurriedly pushed up back up into her seat before helping Kame up.

Izza kissed Kame on the cheek one last time, “you both are the best.  The cookies, cakes, and now jewelry.  You spoil me.”

“Yeah, we do,” Kame agreed, “now open Midori’s present,” he urged.

[Akame Apartment]

Kame frowned at the clock, annoyed when he saw that it was just about midnight.

“At least we have the day off tomorrow too,” Jin offered helping Kame strip his jacket, and a few other things, off.

Kame tugged Jin into the bedroom before crawling onto the bed, “Now you promised me a few things earlier…” he trailed off meaningfully.

“I might have,” Jin smirked.
