A loud, bark-like cough interrupted the peaceful surroundings of the hotel room that was, at the moment, housing the vocalist and young guitarist of alice nine. As the one cough turned into a fit of more powerful coughs, Hiroto leaned up from his resting place. Automatically curling into himself as the fit went on.

After what seemed like forever to the small man the fit stopped. Hiroto collapsed back onto the mound of pillows on the bed with a slight groan. Just as he got comfortable, Shou came rushing out of the kitchen area carrying a small cup of red liquid and a glass of water.

“Here Pon, I know that it tastes terrible but the cough drops aren’t working and your cough just keeps getting worse,” Shou explained as he held out the small dose of cough medicine to the guitarist. “And I know all that coughing must be making your throat hurt by now.”

Hiroto took the small cup from Shou, his face twisting into an expression of disgust as his nose caught the slight smell of the medicine. Putting on a brave face Hiroto took a deep breath and downed the medicine. Shou watched in amusement as the other’s face quickly scrunched up again. Hiroto gagged after swallowing the vile-tasting medicine and quickly grabbed the glass of water from Shou, quickly downing half of it.

Shou smiled as he took the small cup that had held the medicine from the other and carried it back into the small kitchen. Coming back into the room he smiled again as he saw the pout that had graced itself on Hiroto’s face. Moving back to the bed Shou sat down next to the guitarist and placed his hand on the other’s forehead.

“I don’t think your fever has gone down any,” Shou frowned. “Why don’t you try to sleep some more and then take some more medicine for it when you wake up if it still hasn’t gone down.”

“Okay,” Hiroto whispered as Shou took the glass of water from his grasp and placed it on the table next to the bed. Shifting so that he was lying down instead of sitting up against the mound of pillows Hiroto wrapped the blankets around him tightly, trapping him in a cocoon of warmth.

“Call me if you need anything,” Shou said as he stood up and made his way back to the kitchen. He was feeling hungry now.

As Shou worked on making himself a serving of instant Ramen he thought about the sick guitarist that was sleeping in the other room. Hiroto had been fine most of the day yesterday and seemed his usual hyperactive self during the live they had. But about an hour after the live had ended while they were having dinner Hiroto had announced that he wasn’t feeling to well and went back to the hotel. When Shou had made it back to the room a few hours later he found Hiroto collapsed on one of the beds. Hiroto had given him a tired look when he heard Shou walk in and after feeling the other’s forehead Shou immediately ran out to buy some medicine and a thermometer for the guitarist.

Shou had hoped that by giving Hiroto medicine before he got too sick that they would have been able to stop him from getting worse. But when Hiroto woke up the in the morning and took his temperature his fever had risen to 39°C. It had only been 38°C last night. Luckily the band had a few days before they had their next live, meaning Hiroto had some time to recover before having to get back on stage.

“Hopefully none of us catch what Hiroto has though,” Shou thought as finished up his meal. Getting up, he started to clean up the dishes he used. As he was lost in thought, the vocalist didn’t hear his sick friend walk into the room. Suddenly Hiroto started coughing again, causing Shou to jump in surprise. Turning around he saw Hiroto sitting at the table behind him.

“Pon! You’re supposed to be resting, not walking around!” Shou exclaimed as he dried off his hands, rushing over to the other to check if his fever had gone down yet.

“I got bored lying in bed,” Hiroto whined as Shou planted his hand on his forehead for what seemed like the hundredth time that day. “Besides I feel better now, I don’t feel like I’m going to pass out when I sit up anymore.”

“Well you still feel warm,” Shou murmured. “But I guess if you’re not dizzy anymore it wouldn’t hurt for you to move around a little. Are you hungry?”

“Yes!” Hiroto exclaimed smiling at the vocalist.

“I’ll make some Ramen for you, okay?” Shou asked as he moved back over to the stove and took out another package of Ramen.

“I can make it!” Hiroto said as he stood up and made his way over to Shou.

But Shou saw him sway a little when he stood up, “I don’t mind making it for you, Pon. Besides your still sick and the heat from the stove will probably just make you feel dizzy again.”

Hiroto pouted, he wasn’t comfortable with having other people do so much for him. But he had to admit Shou had a point, he didn’t need to be passing out while trying to make something to eat. “Well, I’m going to take a shower then. I feel gross,” Hiroto made a face as he turned around and made his way to the bathroom.

Shou watched worriedly as he walked away, a little hesitant for Hiroto to go take a shower since just a few hours ago the other couldn’t even stand up for a minute before almost collapsing. But Hiroto seemed okay now so he didn’t try to stop the other and instead went back to making lunch for Hiroto.

Just as he poured the noodles into a bowl, Hiroto stepped out of the bathroom. Seeing that Shou was finished he smiled brightly and headed straight for the bowl on the table. “So good~” he hummed as ate some of the noodles. Shou smiled and tilted his head in reply before going back to once again clean up the dishes.

After putting the clean dishes away Shou went to go find something to watch on tv. Stopping on a music program Shou reclined on the bed, content with the idea of not doing anything else for the rest of the day. Closing his eyes Shou let the music from the tv filter into his mind until suddenly something landed on top of him.

Shou gave a fairly unmanly scream at the sudden intrusion of his personal space. Opening his eyes he came face to face with the sick guitarist. “Shou~ I’m bored!” Hiroto whined when he made eye contact with the other. Shou blinked, still a bit shell-shocked and Hiroto pouted at him before lightly shaking him. “Shou~”

“What?” Shou asked, finally coming out of his stupor.

“I’m bored,” Hiroto repeated, still lying on the vocalist’s chest.

“Well watch tv with me?”

“I’ve been watching tv all day. I want to do something else.”

“Well I don’t know what to tell you. You can’t very well leave the room because you might make someone else sick too.”

Hiroto pouted again then gave Shou a questioning look. “Why are you still here then? I might make you sick too.”

Shou lightly blushed and looked down. “Well, someone needs to take care of you. Even if you don’t think you need help, you do. You almost passed out trying to get out of bed this morning. If I hadn’t been here to catch you, you might have hit your head and gotten a concussion!”

Hiroto raised an eyebrow at the last part of the vocalist’s explanation before finally sitting up so that he was no longer laying on top of the other. “Well. Since you’ve taken it upon yourself to become my nurse then you should be trying to help me get better. And I’m not going to feel any better laying around staring at the ceiling all day so entertain me!” the guitarist stated as he bounced on the bed.

Shou sighed as he sat up. “Okay then. What do you want to do?”

“I don’t know...” Hiroto put a finger against his lips as he thought. “Dance!” he exclaimed and flung his arms up in the air.

“What!?”

“Dance~!”

Hiroto stood up, pulling Shou with him to the middle of the room. Then he threw his arms in the air again and started flailing them around while shaking his hips, grinning like an idiot the whole time.

“You look silly,” Shou laughed as he watched the other.

“That’s the point! It’s fun!” Hiroto replied as he turned around and shook his ass at Shou, collapsing to the ground in a fit of laughter not long after.

Shou watched with a fond smile, happy that Hiroto could still be his normal and silly self even when he was sick. “Okay, come on. I don’t think lying on the dirty floor will help you get any better,” Shou said as he moved over to help the other get back on his feet.

Once Hiroto was standing again he rushed over to his bag and grabbed his iPod. Plugging it into a set of speakers he turned it on and ran back over to Shou. “Dance!” he exclaimed once again, grabbing Shou’s hips and forcing them to move causing Shou to laugh again.

Soon Shou had forgotten about the other being sick and was dancing like an idiot with the guitarist. Neither one was trying to actually dance, but were just having fun by moving their arms and spinning around and shaking their hips.

But a few songs later Hiroto started to feel a little dizzy and collapsed onto the closest bed. It didn’t take Shou long to notice the guitarist was no longer dancing with him and he immediately rushed over to the other when he caught sight of him. Once again feeling the smaller man’s forehead Shou frowned, “You’re fever came back.”

Hiroto lightly groaned in annoyance and pulled his legs fully onto the bed, curling up into a ball as he started helplessly at Shou. “I don’t like being sick.”

“Nobody does,” Shou replied quickly going into the kitchen to grab some more medicine for the guitarist. Hiroto took the pill and glass of water that was offered to him before flopping down on the bed again.

“Here, get under the covers and try to get some more sleep,” Shou said as he started gathering up the blankets and laying them on top of the other. “I’ll turn off the TV so it’s not bothering you,” he said as he started to walk over to the remote. But he didn’t get far because Hiroto had grabbed ahold of his arm. Turning back around, he gave the other a questioning look.

Hiroto pulled Shou so that he was closer. “Thank you for taking care of me,” he whispered before leaning up and giving the other a soft kiss on the cheek.

Shou blushed furiously as he watched the other lay back down and close his eyes, attempting to go to sleep again. “It’s no problem,” Shou whispered back before smiling and moving to turn the television off.
