Digimon Adventure 2002 hinges on the dark world, which is probably the mindless aspects of Lucemon's evil and spite, which was originally Apoclymon, trying to kill the Four Sovereigns who took over following the deaths of the Triumvirate Angels, who took over after Lucemon in the first place.
One of the kill attempts results in the destruction of the seals binding the Sovereigns to the digital world, which Quilongmon attempts to replace with seeds (ergo, future Yggdrasil).
Armor Digivolution is much to similar to the 'ancient evolution' technique of spirit evolution. In this case, instead of the spirits being aspects of the legendary warriors, they are instead the spirits of the current crest bearers, (Which means there most likely is a 10th crest of miracles, and possibly one of destiny as well).
To activate the digimentals, the crest bearer from the previous series must approve of the armor digimon who is to be gifted with the armor. This also means there really shouldn't be a restriction, so for example Mimi could have given the Egg of Purity to Hikari, if she felt closest to her at that moment. Between the end of this one and the beginning of Tamers, something really bad happens, forcing Digimon to mass exodus across the internet for a new world. The Sovereign leave with the Devas to protect the migrating Digimon. Ryo is used by the Sovereign to kill Millinumon multiple times, causing him to leave earth, traveling with the data migration.
I don't think they we're runing from the D-Reaper until they started traveling through the data world as massive junk data. I think Yggdrasil released the X virus trying to save Digimon from the dark influences of the humans post Digimon Adventure. Which would put X Evolution as taking place parallel to Tamers. The so called 'Pure' Digimon would have fled, or been saved to Yggdrasil's backup world, and the only people and digimon left would have to die, or start to evolve.
Lucemon and Yggdrasil both have access to the Holy Knights, where the Sovereign only have the Deva's as their enforcers. So I'm thinking Yggdrasil is just more powerful then anyone expected really.
Yeah, this is a freaking huge explanation so far. And no ones ever going to read it anyways. I'll try to do Tamers and the X-antibody digimon in one sitting, but it won't be easy.
