Pluto and music, a random combination

Aug 26, 2006 22:48

For today's entry, I shall post some thoughts I've mentioned to a few folk before but have never really gotten around to posting as an entry. So a few of you will likely recognise the subject matter of at least half of this entry.

Because everyone has an opinion about Pluto. )

I struggle to appreciate The Wall's story because I simply find it so painfully boring to listen to. I have never once been able to sit through it all; in fact, I prefer Achtung Baby. As far as The Final Cut goes, I find it gets quite boring, but I have listened all the way through it a few times and I like parts of it. The dullness of The Wall and The Final Cut is the primary reason why I prefer Gilmour; at least when Gilmour led Floyd, he made Sorrow!

I consider there to only be one dud on Unknown Pleasures: I Remember Nothing. That song is really quite boring. I've often overlooked Candidate and Insight too but I don't dislike them.

ATYCLB can go burn forever in the pit of albums that suck way too much, though it's already suffering eternal torment due to containing In A Little While. When I Look At The World is the only truly great track (unless you have The Ground Beneath Her Feet on your version too), Kite and Grace are good, and I must confess a strong attachment to Walk On despite the fact it would better be known as The U2 Cliché Festival.

And as much as I slag off TTTYAATW and Ultra Violet, there are a few worse U2 songs: Red Light, Babyface, Stuck In A Monumentally Terrible Song, In A Shitty While, Sometimes Bono Can't Write A Good Song, and the ultimate crappiest U2 song ever, ELVIS ATE AMERICA.
