I must say, there's something about the death penalty that seriously and deeply bothers me within my conscience. I cannot possibly view it as an act of a civilised people or as a means of serving justice. Maybe this makes me some bleeding heart, but on an intellectual level, I cannot find a purpose that validates capital punishment, and on emotional and moral levels, I find it repulsive and abhorrent, a savage punishment unwelcome in a society where we should be educated and reasonable enough to deal constructively with issues rather than condemning people as too dangerous and difficult.

I would write more, but I have no words to adequately convey my disgust and horror with this penalty. I frankly feel it is a miscarriage of justice rather than an act of justice.
