It is the point of every writer, I think, to connect with the reader. If not THE point, then at least _one_ of the points of writing is to connect, at some level, with the person who reads.

I can promise you that I connected to this piece, right here. There're SO many things I relate to: the crying, the forgetting, the hoping and wishing I can retain memories of the past and being so afraid of forgetting what has gone by. (Btw, DOLPHINS EEEE. But I digress.)

The first blue butterfly quivers on your smallest fingertip, still-new wings waving gently.

See? This way, we can still come back anytime you think of us.

That bit? Made me incredibly happy, because I thought they'd just leave. But they circle back instead, and I realised, that's the right thing to do. That's what memories _are_. They don't leave. They circle back and you remember them as and when you can or need. The idea of them becoming beautiful, graceful butterflies, of changing into something softer after you can finally _let go_, is expressed so beautifully here. I know you intended to use 3rd person but somehow 2nd person makes this so much better because all of us have memories. All of us relate to growing up, reluctantly or otherwise. All of us relate to having to let go. Which is what makes this work.

Long story short, thank God you connect to Kidchan's art. And long may your writing reign! ♥
