ETHICS CLASS - My teacher scares me.
Just a quick rant. Ethics class, I might fail or get the highest mark in the class. I have trouble telling whether or not I am pissing off my teacher in the right or wrong ways with my arguments. What can I say? I like to bury myself in the muck and make the world a contextually set greyscale.
Anyways. First off my prof's opinions on homosexuality annoy me. ALOT.
She has this question on our ethics mult. choice starter that actually states;
"One Issue I may have in treating a gay male or lesbian is;"
and from there all of the options are pretty bad stereotypes.
I told her I found it offensive and the only issue I may have wasn't on the list.
which is I do not believe it is ethical to first bring sexual lives into treatment unless it is required by mandate or the PATIENT has brought it up.
Second, I do not consider it ethical to "extinguish" homosexual behaviours because that would be playing to the b-mod stereotype of conditioning that people in our program are working against!~
If a patient came asking for me to "treat" them for being homosexuals my issue would be more what has led them to the point of cognitive dissonance- not on changing who they are. Psychologists are there to help people get the skills to work through problems themselves.
Her attempt at salvaging was "Well Homosexuality was considered a mental deviancy on the DSM-IV for years.
......... Yes.
That was her defence.
Siiiigh, I had calmed down mostly toed the line being only a touch of a devil's advocate until the last bit.
ASIAN CULTURE AND VALUES
I raised my hand before anything came up " Asia is a continent you realize that right?"
her; "Pardon"
"It is a continent and a pretty damn big one. There isn't a singular culture and value set you know that?"
her "i was just talking about asia."
(she is irish-catholic, moved to Canada a few years ago)
me; " Alright, So what can you tell me about your values and culture being British?"
she switches over the slides and doesn't bother reading the asian culture and value system slides.

Siiigh to feel better my first attempt at drawing Piper it wasn't that good but I think using his music note on his chest and changing it circumstantially would be neat- I plan on doing another rest sign one except with him snuggled with tricks.
whistles... I should start drawing the body first and not the hood.
