From AM New York this morning. The memorial's fine and completely appropriate, but I'm not sure how I feel about the immersion part...I mean, would people actually want to go through it? I'm trying to find comparable events I'd find interesting to see through the eyes of the victim, but am having a hard time. I guess if you look at 9/11 as an attack on innocents with no way to defend themselves, the Holocaust is a comparable event, and I sure as hell wouldn't want to know what it was like to be in those ovens. I understand a memorial recounting the events (especially since it's been done a million times on TV the past 4 years), but I just don't understand the appeal of the immersive experience - of knowing what it was like to be in the towers. Or maybe I do understand the appeal, and that's what's disturbing me.
