ten days of perfect tunes; the colors red and blue.

it came and went rather quietly. i haven't been excited about my birthday in years. there are times when i think i'd honestly forget it if Mommy and J weren't around to remind me.

i woke up to Ashley having taped balloons of all colors to my door. some of them floated to the ground, causing me to trip in my 8am-haze. there was also a giant signed card taped to the door. how lovely of her. she made me breakfast in bed and we giggled like little school girls.

i got a paper back (the one on Chomsky) and got a [surprisingly] good grade. i won't gloat, but it was definitely unexpected.

and came home from Uni to a boquet of flowers leaning gently against my door. thank you, mommy.

dinner came the next night, a lovely mix of Indian and Thai food. consumed with a few bottles of wine, then finished off with drinks at Sand Bar, then home-made apple crumbled with freshly whipped cream and vanilla ice cream (thank you, sophie).

even though majority of my "home" friends forgot my birthday, i have friends on this side of the world who made the boo boos go away. i guess everyone's just really busy with their own lives and issues. but i've always prided myself in remembering peoples birthdays.. its just something i find important.

but apart from some crying in the dark on the actual day, it was quite lovely.

i was able to talk to my sister for the first time since i was in Barcelona, and my brother called as well. it was so good to hear their voices--this is the first birthday i've ever spent without having any family whatsoever present.

another lovely surprise: J is coming to visit. he arrives on the 7th of June and is staying until we can fly home together on the 15th. it will be so so so good to see him and show him my life for the past 7/8 months. it's been a while since i've entwined my fingers with his.

the weather has been beautiful. not as warm as Greece, but the sun has been bathing us all in a warm glow. Spring is truly in the air, and i for one am glad. the winter was long and cold, albeit quite lovely when it snowed.

i never knew how many cherry blossoms and magnolias bloom in Swansea. Daffodils pushing their way through the earth. everything is covered in a blanket of greens and yellows and whites and pinks.
