Survival Horror Test: Her canon was intended to be a knock of Resident Evil, for one. Not only that, Lady is a demon hunter, she's used to violence and gore, let alone making the most of what she has. Making the most of what she has in terms of using anything as a weapon and making the most of her situation. If you stuck her in Resident Evil or Fatal Frame, she's mature enough, as well as confident enough to handle it. Silent Hill might unnerve her, but with her line of work, anything out of the ordinary and being forced to make due with what she has isn't far from abnormal for her. Very proficient with guns, ammo, explosives, hand-to-hand combat, theology, and even a little occult knowledge on the side. Someone very used to this, she's not to be taken lightly, by any means.

Age: Sixteen; it is never stated in canon, but given how she reacts to things and her appearance, I say she's fairly young. And she doesn't even look that old in DMC4...
Species: Human, despite being a badass normal, all fucked up.
Eyes: Left is red, the right is blue, she has full heterocrhomia
Hair: Black
Timeline: Post DMC3
Canon Personality:
Lady can be seen as simply one thing; a bitter bitch. And it's true, to an extent. She is level headed, collected, and thorough, but is also very begrudging, bitter, and unrelenting. She is has a lot of fire and passion to her. While she can be calm and level-headed, and undoubtedly, very mature, she has a very short temper beneath that. Where Dante is more hedonistic compared to her, Lady is overly serious, rather act than react. Which often times, Lady can be swept up in these sort of feelings very easy. She functions for the sake of looking after herself, sadly, and keeps most (read: probably all) at arm's length.

But there's hidden layers to Lady. With her business-like mind, she is truly judgmental. She relies solely on encounters with others, their words, and their actions -- and they are short periods of time. Needless to say Lady has no trust in anyone, she questions people all the time. This makes her a stubborn person, really, she'll never ask for help, never rely in anyone, unless she is in absolute desperation to do so. She is never the type to befriend or tolerate anyone, unless she can find some sort of common ground. Even then, they're few and far in between.

And Lady is like any girl her age, she's idealistic. Lady sees the world in black and white, has her own definition of good and evil that is constantly challenged. And other than that, it makes her really a naive person; she's a very proud person and holds onto her ideals dutifully. After all, Lady has literally pulled herself up from the bootstraps and is very proud of that fact. She has done a lot with the help of barely anyone. But only for the fact she has shut out many; Lady was not always so hardened and bitter.

There is a degree of complexity to her, without a doubt. Even if Lady has tendencies to think for herself and can be selfish, she is a very loyal and dedicated person. She's a strong girl -- if something comes her way and she is thrown down, she'll pull herself up without complaining. While her pledge to avenge her mother's name is fueled by the hatred of her father, it's also fueled by her own sense of justice and compassion for humanity. In short, Lady does have a small maternal streak, for anyone she can relate to. It's her small sense of purity she still remains. Lady has a very strong code of ethics she holds.

Canon History:
Lady was originally born Mary Arkham, to a wealthy married couple, Kalina Ann and a father of an unknown first name. Given the name because she was a wished child and fond of heavy religious symbolism, Arkham did. Both raised her lovingly and equally in a large house, just outside of a small city. Her mother being a devout Catholic stuck her in your classic Catholic schools, wanted to have her daughter have faith and spirituality in life, something that is hinted that Kalina Ann never received a break herself. While Arkham knew of her bloodline, Kalina Ann intended to hide this from her, and deemed it fitting for whatever family honor that she carried to tell Mary when she felt she was of age.

Yet things became odd and complicated. The normally hermit scholar became more withdrawn and cold to his family, which confused and baffled his poor wife. What Kalina Ann didn't know Arkham's interest in Sparda was actually an obsession, that was transpiring into madness. That changed of course when Arkham attempted to gain power as a demon, brutally murdering his wife in a botched sacrifice. Frightened and still fairly young, Mary fled the house. From that day forward, she vowed to oppose her father's interests in demons and vowed to kill him. Not only for revenge, but to stop him. Of course, her father was never really found or punished for his crime. More so in part Mary would never utter anything about her origins or her trauma.

The rest is completely vague and not really mention, as per quota with a Capcom game, unfortunately. Somewhere down the line, Mary renounced her birth name of "Mary Arkham" and chose to become nameless. As soon as Arkham and Vergil rose Temen-ni-Gru, a tower that was a literal gate to Hell, this girl showed up, not long after the tower rose. It can be best left to assume that she knew about what her father was doing as she did show up not long after he did. She does, however, crosses paths with Arkham only briefly, and it's not a pleasant reunion to say the least. Where Arkham scolds Mary/Lady in response to her pointing a gun at him, she tells him blatantly the only family she regards is her mother and that she's dead, hinting at her fate. After that, she nearly gets into a physical fight with Arkham, but instead is thrown off the tower by her own father. And while she's fighting, she shoots at him, but only grazes his chin. It might seem like simple hatred, but things grow more and more complicated as the game progresse.

She is fooled once by Arkham by finding him on the ground bleeding to death. After asking Dante if he killed him or not, he asks, "so what if I did?" so Lady engages in a fight with him, and stating that he killed people, including her mother, to become a demon and that he's his father. And that he was supposed to die by her hands, alone. Dante leaves, but then Arkham is pretending he is near death to fool Lady that he was possessed by a demon named "Vergil". He caters to Lady's side and desire for justice to send her after Vergil, which works. Next shot on the screen and Arkham isn't there. So Lady charges into battle while the twins are fighting, especially going after Vergil. Vergil shrugs her off, calling her a "foolish girl".

The clown known as Jester appears explaining how he wore them out, piting them against each other. It's revealed this is Arkham's demonic form, and he truly betrayed Lady for the second time around. While Vergil is trying to break a seal to Hell, Arkham tells him he forgot one piece. And after subduing Lady, he stabs her through her thigh with her own weapon's blade, leaving her to bleed and open the gate to Hell, thus Arkham is lead away by the opening gate ascending upwards, leaving Lady hurt and angry again. Dante asks if she is going to find him, so Lady indeed, states that, "he's my father, besides, who else can undo what he has done?". She leaves Dante.

The next time they meet, Lady is exhausted and hurt from her previous encounter with her father in the tower's library. Dante tells her to stay back, but Lady refuses, again, stating that it must be done by HER and he is going to die by her hands again. When Dante can't reason with her, he realizes the only way Lady is going to see she can't do it is to be beaten by him. Lady loses, and Dante soon, at lasts, realizes what he has to do, thanks in part to Lady's resolve and desire for justice. He tells her this, and Lady finally sees him as humane. He's gain her trust so much, she hands over Kalina Ann, the weapon named after her mother. So Lady stays behind to rest.

Not long after, Vergil passes through the library, passed an exhausted Lady. She's curious by now, and when the tower shifts some more, Lady comes right after Arkham has gained the power of Sparda, becoming a monstrous, demonic blob, and is beaten by the twins. He's hurled back on the tower, still wanting power. Lady finds him, and she's less than thrilled. While he pleads and is completely out of his mind, Lady gets what she wanted to do -- kill him. So she shoots him in the head four times, and Lady breaks down crying for a brief while.

She is on the ground, after the dark clouds and portal is closed, the tower is gone. Dante returns with her canon, and the two are now likely comrades. He sheds one tear, and states it's just the rain. Lady makes the infamous comment that, "maybe even the devil may cry, don't you think?" in order to comfort him. Thankfully for Dante, the last barrage of demons come, and the two of them finish them off. The game ends there.

RP History:
Hoo boy.

Lady first came into this game, Halloween night, to "Death City", as the place shifted. As it was, since she appeared during this time frame, she was without her weapons, was not in the regular "facility", so this gave her more freedom. First pair to great her, of course, were Dante, to whom she was more receptive (if not, obviously glad) and Vergil. She was able to settle into lodgings, no problem, of course. During this time, Dante already had pre-established connections in game, and Lady was happily left to most of her devices. Though without her weapons and Vergil... pretty much keeping tabs on her and generally feeling vulnerable without weapons, it left her very, very wary. Especially more so hearing things from the locals about how dangerous this "facility" was. During this time, truth week happened, and Lady was starting to see more shades of Vergil than warranted, despite reputed claims to Dante about his former affilation.

So given a few days time, Lady had her weapons back. During that time, she meets Red Hood, who, later becomes one of her trustees and, oddly enough, friends in game. It goes without saying, since Dante had his own to take care of, Vergil continued to antagonize her. Because of him bluntly telling her that she is nothing like her father, it leaves her rather conflicted about Vergil. Again, because of truth week, instances of divulging more information, no one can lie. After an altercation with the twins in their devil trigger glory, Lady continues with the mindset that Vergil would even walk over his own brother. As Vergil explains, he doesn't want Dante to get close to him, for he would leave him, again. Lady's stunned by this revelation and Vergil tells her that he still cares for his brother. So it waters down the image of him being cold-hearted, even willing to walk over his own brother. Because of that and him telling her she's not like her father, Lady doesn't strongly seek him out as much.

Despite this, Vergil drops in for an unexpected visit to torment Lady further. Off guard and further away from her weapons, Lady retaliates after he breaks into her apartment's window by throwing a mug of tea at him. A fight almost breaks out, but Vergil leaves. Not without Lady slapping him, kicking him, and then throwing a trash can at him, out the window, to prove her point that she isn't to be taken lightly. Regardless, she continues on, and makes more good grounds with Red Hood, after joking around about her window. After that, Lady finally realizes truth week exists. This is the end of the week, and observations are presented. Though because of the twins' situation and in light effort to both push Vergil off of her, and because partially his confessions to her, Lady scolds Dante and encourages him to make further amends with his twin. After all, Lady still remembers Dante crying over his brother, end of the game, hoping Dante will set things right. Here, her and Vergil find SOME common ground over the observations. Just then, the zombies enter Death City. Because of her previous conversation regarding truth week, as well as point out that had Vergil approached her better than breaking into her apartment, and the likely mindset against observations, Lady reluctantly teams up with Vergil to clear out zombies. But this is only due to boredom and lack of Dante for Vergil. It slowly is the foundation of Lady opening up to Vergil more, too. But she continues, offers help to others during the zombie plot.

Dante and Vergil have another altercation, where, creepy enough, Vergil bites Dante's lip off, leaning more to his demonic nature. Lady confronts him over it, and demands for an explanation, almost damaging the amends they have made. Lady does scold Dante the second time, and still encourages him to make up with his brother, to protect his friends. Because of the previous zombie hunting, she reluctantly agrees to let Vergil use her shower, after his place is trashed in the midst of chaos. She only allows him this, just to get an answer out of him. To which, Vergil explains, it's what demons do... take the flesh of those they defeat. As soon as he arrives to Lady, she slaps him over the head for hurting her friend. And the two do quietly talk about Dante's allies, trying to interfere. Another common ground the two agree on: Outsiders have to stay out. So Vergil uses her shower... and then comes back out to Lady, complaining that her towers are too small. Since Lady is a prude, she abandons him, after yelling at him it's inappropriate to come out of the shower like that. And still is firm in her position no matter how awkward it is to talk to Vergil. Needless to say, common grounds and towels alike, still make for awkward conversations, the day after, despite determined to call him on taking her vodka.

Week goes on, and Lady meets Black Mask, who she, Vergil, and Red Hood are both equally interested in, after his stunt with zombies. Thus starting the nickname "Tater Tot". They even debate the towel incident as Vergil and Black Mask banter back and forth. Vergil's list grows, as well as more tension and disapproval with Dante. Because of this, Lady and Vergil take the time to equally torment Dante, by throwing fake flirting back and forth, that eventually leaves Dante angered enough to leave them alone about teasing that they are actually in a relationship. At the same time, Vergil approaches Lady about theorizing using their blood - not in any way tied to Temen-ni-Gru without the other keys - to perhaps opening a portal back home. Lady doesn't approve at first, but after Vergil tells her TNG is not involved and since their blood already has properties for opening portals (they don't know how much) Lady carefully agrees, so as long as they bring Dante and that he doesn't harm her.

Because of the towel thing, Lady is exasperated to prove Vergil wrong by asking the females for their opinions on the matter! Clearly, some like Steph don't agree. She teases Lady, and tells her that they need to have more time together, as chick friends. Lady is... sadly not into it. Lady's nature is called into question even by Red Hood who tells her that she's overreacting about the whole thing. Despite this, they continue to play into the charade to mindfuck Dante. Though, ultimately, because of the sheer awkwardness with Vergil, he does openly question her as everyone continues to tease her. Lady bluntly admits to not knowing for sure -- her conflicted nature with him, still abound. But it's safe to assume because of his less than violent nature, she's a little more at ease with him. Doesn't help as Vergil continues to confuse her.

Steph is kidnapped by Black Mask and Lady and Vergil jump in to offer their help. And it seems Lady is making a point to avoid him, at this rate, after the previous conversation, she does agree, after a while. Even with him attempting to make conversation at the local movie night, nope Lady won't have it. Following day later, observations come out, Lady's starting to get more angrier with Dante idly sitting by and not being more proactive -- but this is Lady, for you. An almost fight breaks out, again, with the twins, but Dante's girlfriend interjects, Vergil is equally angry, and Lady is infuriated with both parties, aside from Vergil. More odd bonding material. It results in Lady pretty much kicking him to the curb, later on, in anger with allowing someone butt into their world affairs.

Eventually, Steph is recovered, Lady reassures her it's not her fault, and more scrutiny on behalf of Vergil, Lady, and Red Hood for Black Mask happens. Especially then when they are gearing up to taking him down. Lady expands, becoming more critical of Black Mask and the inhuman, offering information to Red Hood and Vergil. By then, she's still too angry with Dante to confide in him.

Tribble week rolls over, Lady asks Vergil of any of Dante's friends have approached him during the time. Lady's naturally paranoid, so it was bound to happen. Steph recovers eventually, with the tribbles abound. Later, Vergil and Dante make up - or it's because Vergil's still planning to seize his amulet for home -- and at this point, Lady is for it, she wants to go home. So... awkwardly, these two admit to sharing some teenage feelings for one another, but nothing comes of it, later. Both aren't receptive to affection, not even after Lady and Vergil discuss recent events, but nothing happens, other than a few touches of shoulders.

Eva the twins' mother, comes in, Lady curiously approaches, but holds back, after Vergil decides to see if Eva is, in fact, Eva. After conformation, Lady checks in on Eva more, and slowly introduces herself as the twins mother. She later checks in on Vergil, Finding out about his "my mother loves my brother" sibling thing. During this, Lady feels compelled to offer him some comfort, since he's been left out with Dante and Eva. And... this ends up being the most awkward situation between the two... Nothing happens, again, most awkward kiss in the world. Anyway, moving on, since everyone was stripped of their powers during this week, Lady double checks to see if her weapons are missing. The DMC crew ever so carefully starts to band together. Later after Vergil goes to find Dante, he's attacked as a human and the crew takes him back to nurse his wounds up. As this goes on, Vergil does show signs of wanting to leave, as Lady consoles Eva. So, basically, the last point in time, is when Lady was hunkered down with her crew, and the last thing she can recall is insisting Vergil doesn't leave, because of concern and because Dante would follow. So, with that, Lady would likely come in, exhausted, cranky, and still with Vergil's blood on her shirt.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Because of the immediate surrounding and with Lady's severe hesitancy, I can at least list about three, that I think, play a major role on her in this game:

Dante - Her relationship in this game is somewhat rocky, but it's rocky in general. With him, Lady has a golden rule: She will never try and intervene, splitting the twins -- jumping in their fights is a no-no. But why has she scolded Dante twice? She's scolded him twice for three reasons. Firstly, she does recall how upset he was when the tower was gone and he came without his brother. Not only that, it's the precursor as to why she handed over Kalina Ann to "free" her father. Secondly, she has developed somewhat of a mutual understanding with his brother. Because of truth week and hearing that he does care for his twin, in a weird sense, she's encouraged him to make amends with his brother, that he can be saved. And especially more so with his friends in the game, because Lady was almost expecting Vergil to violently lash out. Although this has pretty much left her mind.

Disdainfully, she doesn't approve of how laid back he is. But this is her, as a whole. To her, Dante could be more proactive with the local paranormal population, so she's taken it upon her self to pick up that slack by looking into and watching people. She's very business-minded, and unlike Dante, she doesn't like to put leisure before business (and she's a bit of hypocrite) that she thinks Dante has done. Honestly, she's gotten jealous of the fact he's got family members, slightly, she's told him this. She's even more jealous that his mother came back to him. But after Dante's girlfriend jumping in and covering Dante, she's been angered enough not to talk to him, until Vergil's injury and knowing Dante was the one who made them not affected by the week event. So, in a way, she's kind of let this slide -- only for now. Because he's kind of gotten clingy with Vergil and Lady can kind of understand the "OMG GET OUT OF MY SPACE" thing with Vergil, she's less than approving.

All and all, despite misgivings, she's exceptionally loyal to Dante, still. Although in this game, because of these events, she's shut him out with her plotting, and substituted this with Red Hood and Vergil, and has told others she only trusts them, in hopes of spiting Dante. She cares for him, she does, he's her best friend in her eyes, but the little interaction and the mutual ground with Vergil do make it seem otherwise. She has been protective of the two twins after being stripped of their powers, don't let it fool you. She's insisted Dante stay too, in fears that he'd end up like Vergil. So if... Dante were more open and receptive, this relationship can be repaired, she's just been more talkative with others. Lady doesn't care about his demonic heritage, at all. Because of him, she does realize that some non-humans have humanity as much as he does. So because of him, she's not as gun ho in hatred of anything not human.

Red Hood - She likes him, a lot. He's just as involved and concerned with local events and people like her. He's leery of people like her. Because of this, Lady's really taking a liking to Red Hood, has opened him up to Vergil and her discussions, what they would do. It's more of an "ally" thing than a friend; she doesn't really... quite trust him THAT much. She confides in him in the sense that, unlike Dante, he gets things done. If Vergil can't, Lady is in the sound belief that he can. And since he's very proactive, Lady makes a point to be extremely helpful to him. He's one of the few (read: three people) she regularly seeks out and talks to.

Vergil - The Temen-ni-Gru incident made her very leery of him. She was under the stark impression that he had a role with her mother's death, and honestly believed he could have done something to stop her father with TNG. Her only interaction in game with him, is based on the lie Arkham canonically told her, that he was possessed, so she blindly attacked him. After being proven wrong, Lady didn't seek him out. She's only gotten on him early on because of the way he's treated his brother, and well, Lady does hold grudges so easily, it's not even funny. Though he's told her she's the opposite of her father -- and honestly, this was really what made it for her. Hearing this has made her feel REALLY good about herself, Lady obviously doesn't want to have any association with her father. And, again, his stance of parting with Dante in fears of hurting him again and showing some brotherly concern also helps. It's why she finally surrendered to Dante.

Since Dante has had his own contacts prior in game, Vergil sought her out, and continued to bother her. There's been massive slip ups with him, due to truth week. After the window incident, he's told her about his feelings for his brother, and that slowly made her more tolerant with him. She's teamed up with him with zombie hunting out of boredom -- Dante's out doing his own thing, in which she'd honestly prefer doing that kind of thing with. They have a mutual ground because of Dante. And because of Vergil, she encourages Dante strongly, and the same with Vergil, to make amends, settle their differences. Lady saw him as a heartless bastard who'd kill his own brother to secure power. But telling her it's his birth right and just to protect, Lady doesn't feel the same. She thinks he's severely misguided, mistaken. This does NOT mean Lady approves of his methods.

Honestly, she thinks TNG is largely her father's fault -- and she continues placing that blame on him, and thinks her father swooped in to get Vergil in. Because Dante kind of left them to their own devices and Lady has no trust in others, sans Red Hood, she tolerates Vergil, because, well. He's familiar. Lady is never in the position to venture out with others, unless they have something in common. More of a plus with Vergil, since he's there and they get along frankly a hell of a lot better than Dante. He's also dependable and proactive as Red Hood. The guy's gone far enough to replace the mug she threw at him, a great peace offering. So in a strange way, Lady's kind of developed a crush on Vergil - and rest assured, if it was reversed with Dante, Lady would be feeling the same way.

She just finds his personality and his cooperation wonderful. It's kind of a strange reason, but it's true. Paying back debts is an extreme plus. He's been more helpful to her than Dante. If he's manipulating her, it's kind of beyond her. Simply put, since he's been around her more than anyone, she's slowly, but surely, tolerated him more. Though their relationship is really strange, even still. She just NOW considers him a friend, despite awkward exchanges of affection. Lady is too afraid and has little or no experience in these kind of things, after shutting herself off because of her mother's death. And she's still a teenage girl, no matter what, so she's bound to be fickle. Like with Dante, she's more protective. But because he doesn't exasperate her as Dante does, Lady doesn't really mock, tease, and scold him as much. It happens, but not as strong. So! Yes.

PERSONALITY AFFECTS:
Lady is a paranoid person by default. Being transported into this game has heightened this. If there is one thing Lady fears most, is that someone close to her will betray her. So constant observations, changes, events, and interactions with people have largely brought a lot of stress upon her, so there's been tendencies to act impulsive on her part. Although there's little signs to her changing outwardly. Aside from making amends with Vergil and tacking on Red Hood as a trustee, she's basically the same spite fire, "take no prisoners" kind of person. Though these two have honestly shown her more lax, calm nature; with them, she can joke around and tease them.

It's also really brought out her maternal side. She mother hens the twins like no other. She scolds Dante in a motherly fashion because he brings it out of her so much. Lady's amends with Vergil is strongly drawn, not only her idealism, but her compassion. In short, Lady pities him. She wants him to open up more, come back with them, and start a new life. And needless to say, Lady does have her own maternal side, comforting Dante at the end of the game, and in later in life, with Patty in the anime.

But has this place made her more on edge? Yes, it has. Weekly observations ranging from picking fun with her relationship with Vergil and interaction with others have left her too weary to seek out others, so she's stuck with five people. The observations honestly make her very picky, and Lady prone to favoritism. She only spoke to five people regularly and only three people that she really did like. Not only that, she's judgmental, likes to rely on first impressions, so that she can protect herself. And this has made her LESS selfish, where she was known to look out for herself only, but now Lady shows more of her attachment to her friends and allies. And she has been just showing to get protective of them.

Appearance:
Tomboy, oh, how much of a tomboy she is. Lady puts function over fashion. You'll either see her in faded jeans and simple shirts during the colder weather, and short shorts, along with tank tops during the warmer days. She's infamous for boots and she owns a pair of worn-down Doc Martins that lace up to her knees. Short black hair, that she flares out by either hairspray or gel. It's thin enough where it can stay, layered and framed around her face, up to the jawline.

Lady's got a few unique features, mainly her eyes and scars. She damn near looks like a scrapped kid, with her clothing and hair, the scars do not help. Most noticeable ones being the spiral scars on her arms, likely from self defense. And larger, bolder scars on her thigh, one being an "x" where Arkham stabbed her with her own weapon. This? Lady doesn't care about. Even if she's got a faint, small scar that bisects the bridge of her nose. It's likely she has more scars on her body, if not fairly faint. Though being in the City probably gave her more. Really? I think she's proud of some of them e_e

What she really doesn't like are her eyes, the only thing she carries from her father. The left is a red, the right a blue. ALSO? Think this is pretty obvious now with the DMC4 renders and anime, SO THERE. This is something called heterochromia. While she has her father's eyes, Lady is a spiting image of her mother. She's a pretty kid, just... doesn't seem to care about clothes. She's not modest, by any means, she just doesn't put the thought process in it.

She's fairly slender, attractive, and is a bit muscular, despite being very slender. From her body, you can feel free to guess that she's been in gymnastics, it's probably true.
