Chromia really, really hated being an errand ‘bot for her boss. She was supposed to be a bodyguard, not a secretary or a go-girl for dry cleaning. Changing jobs was rapidly sounding like a better and better idea, and it was something she was looking into before she ended up deciding to just punch her boss in the face and therefore ruin any future attempts at employment.

The library was a strange place to send her, but her boss had insisted that she find a hard copy of TransTechs and You! A guide to Friendly Relations in the Nexus. She rather suspected this might, in fact, be something he wanted her to read as opposed to wanting it for himself.

Come to think of it, maybe she would just punch him in the face later. Slag the job.

She grumpily searched through the library with a look on her face that frightened off anyone that might have actually wanted to help her find said book. When she turned down an aisle and found a car in her way, she didn’t bother with pleasantries or politeness. She wanted the slaggin’ book, and she wanted to ( ... )

"I apologise," Kitt began, his voice carefully modulated - this was, after all, a library - "but I cannot transform."

He recognized the voice but admitted to himself that this was not exactly the locale he would've predected her to frequent, especially after the display between her and Thunderblast. She didn't seem like a reader.

But then, he could be wrong.

"What? Cogs busted?" Clearly she doesn't remember (or didn't deem him important enough) any previous conversation.

He was certainly right, Chromia had little time for libraries unless it was for researching wars, weaponry, or battle tactics.

Even then, she preferred to discuss such things with her commander, or simply test them out herself.

"No. I am not Cybertronian." That, he thought, might be explanation enough. Somehow, though, he doubted that. He sent out another query - the origins of the Aurexian war. There were quite a few similarities, but still he researched.

"...What are you?" Nope, not enough for her. Despite her feigned indifference, she was curious. She thought maybe she'd talked to him before, but really she'd been busy hunting the ever missing organics and getting things for her boss.

She made a mental note to dump her bosses coffee flavored energon on his head when she knocked him out.

"I am an AI from Earth." That was enough of an answer, he thought. He'd said more to others but they had either been more polite or they had won a measure of his trust. He understood bluntness, but after being abducted, he had more reason to be... guarded.

"So like a drone then. What's your function?" She knew of drones. Prime had had one, she knew, though the name escaped her. She thought it was interesting he was from earth, though.

"Humans built you?" Smart things, organics.

...Sometimes, anyway.

"I am not a drone, but my purpose is to protect humanity and pursue criminals that operate beyond the reach of normal law enforcement. I was built by Doctor Charles Graiman." And if anybody took it in mind to go after the good doctor, Kitt would be subtly amused. After all, the man was dead.

"Hmph." Sounded drone-like to her, but whatever.

"That's nice." She murmured, her tone a tad condescending. She wasn't exactly trying to be, but, well...

"Indeed." But he paused, considering. "You seem frustrated. Have you not taken advantage of the digital locator system?"

"No, I haven't." She snapped, giving him a dirty look. "I..."

Wait a minute, why was she explaiining herself to something that might as well be a drone?!

"I'll...find it." She muttered, intent on ignoring him. Now that he'd brought it up, she didn't want to use it. She could find it on her own!

"If you insist. The digital locator system was, however, put in place to save such frustration." But if that was all she wanted to hear, so be it. He wouldn't offer his assistance. He would just sit and be expressionlessly smug. She considered him a drone, yet he could find his way around the library better than she.

Score one for the Knight AI.

"Yes, I know that. I'm looking for a hard copy. I don't need an ebook." Or whatever he'd told her. He specifically said hard copy.

Oh, if only looks could kill.

"If you had sought an electronic version, you would likely still be at the terminals. The digital locator system traces hard copies to their locations on the shelves." He was rather sure that if she'd listened to the workers, she would know that.

Or maybe she didn't know the Dewey Decimal System.

She hadn't bothered to listen. She hadn't thought it would be so slaggin' difficult. As it was, her optics narrowed dangerously.

"Alright then, AI. You're so smart, you find this thing."

"What title is it you seek?" he asked, bringing up the library's digital cataloguing on his hood.
